Muskmelon - mooring ball or balls?

Muskmelon - mooring ball or balls? - 05/28/2015 04:15 PM

Can anyone confirm the current number of mooring balls available in Muskmelon for overnight?

Folks from the Guana Island resort just told me they have one, day use only, mooring ball available.

I'd read a previous thread and was hopeful of a possible overnight there. The latest trip report I read about sighting a single ball there got me to thinking a bit more about it.

As always, comments appreciated.

We stayedbon Guana last year. There is only one white ball. I didn't know that it was for day use only. For what it's worth, a boat did overnight there during our stay. It was a pretty calm night.

Last year there were maybe 10 balls there and we stayed 2 nights there. When we came back a few weeks ago, there was only one. A guy collected the fee for then ball and did I not mention day use only. Not sure why they took the balls out. Too much trouble to collect the fees ?

What is the holding/depth like there if you wanted to anchor?

Probably room for one boat NE corner in a patch of sand...watch the north swell...

Spent the night there on Wed, only 1 ball, very private, white bay was full of jellies.

Thanks Jeff! <img src="http://www.traveltalkonline.com/forums/images/graemlins/Wink.gif" alt="" /> <img src="http://www.traveltalkonline.com/forums/images/graemlins/Grin.gif" alt="" /> <img src="http://www.traveltalkonline.com/forums/images/graemlins/jester.gif" alt="" />

Sounds like a backup option if white bay is crowded or whatever, but definitely not a spot to plan on without having a backup or two in mind.

I really appreciate all the comments...

Capnmike, did you anchor or stay on the ball?

Private was sort of the main draw for us on this location.

We stayed on the ball. Very private. Unlike the Bight where we are right now!

It was kind of quiet at the old Willie T last night, but Pirates was rocking. After a couple of souvenir buckets we were rocking as well.

Next stop, Salt Island.

Yea I know, pictures, I may have to try Kim's trick and send them to Beerman for his review and narration.
