Hi. Can't wait for my first trip to the BVI. Will be land based in Tortola but hoping to get some days on the water.

You will love it!! sage mountain hike is a nice excursion. Cane Garden Bay. Often overlooked but trellis bay by the airport is also a nice stoll. Aragorn's studio has many lovely handmade items. Sunday brunch at Tamarind club is also a great way to spend a day.

Don't miss Brewer's Bay either! You should have no problem finding some day trips on the water! Enjoy! You will be hooked like the rest of us....<img src="http://www.traveltalkonline.com/forums/images/graemlins/Laugh.gif" alt="" />

Be sure to get a ferry from Sopers Hole to Jost VD.
Make your way to White Bay. Worth the effort.

A day trip to Anegada wouldn't be too bad either <img src="http://www.traveltalkonline.com/forums/images/graemlins/Clapping.gif" alt="" />

We love Tortola, our favorite beach on Tortola is smugglers. A perfect day includes getting a deli sandwich at the market in sopers and take that and a cooler with beer and water and hang at smugglers for the day. Then top it off with great music in Cane Garden Bay and dinner.

I love Tortola, and would gladly spend a land-based vacation there. But to truly understand why we all keep coming back over and over again (14 times for me), you will want to experience the other islands -- JVD, Norman, Virgin Gorda, Cooper, the Baths, the Caves, the Indians, Marina Cay (read "Two on the Isle" by Robb White if you can before you go). Spend a day with a knowledgeable taxi driver (get a quote first) and see it from a local perspective. Have fun and report back!
