Luxury Catamaran for 4 couples

Luxury Catamaran for 4 couples - 09/26/2015 05:09 PM

Can anyone recommend a luxury Catamaran that can accommodate 4 couples equally as far as cabins go. This is for a friend of mine that has been coming to the USVI for more than thirty years. He usually rents beautiful homes on St. John. This is out of my league as he has large budget 30,000+. He's looking for a high end week in the BVI around the third week in January.

Nick, Malcolm or anyone else any recommendations?

For $30k all of the crewed cats in the BVI will be lining up for this business

A crewed Voyage 600 could accommodate them.

The other poster is correct... 30k is a big budget, even for a high end, luxury cat. More Amore, which is a 62 leopard and provides a very high end experience is only 25k for the week for eight. You can go higher than that as well. Here is a link to more amore for your friend, if interested. http://www.iyachtclub.com/yachts/amore/ Happy sailing! Derek

I'd take a look at the Moorings 5800. The 3 cabins in the hull are equal. Then they have two on the main level. They are smaller, but have a unique view since they are on the main level. They also have a door to the forward cockpit area.

What we felt was one of the best aspects was the huge flybridge - lots of space to lounge, relax and there's even a fridge, grill and sink!

How well does the 5800 sail?

If your friend is used to real luxury then he/she will want something like this http://sailsabore.com/index.html rather than a crewed boat from one of the big bareboat groups.

Don't know about the current crew but I have been aboard the boat in the past and it is magnificent.

I thought it sailed well. The self tacking genoa was great. We frequently moved along at 10-12 knots if I recall correctly.

Sunreef, a Polish builder, makes a luxury catamaran in both power and sail configurations. There are several available in the winter doing charter, in that price range. Most are inclusive of all but tip.
This is a much nicer experience than a bareboat with a crew.

Just to clarify - the Moorings 5800 is mostly offered as crewed yachts (they have 2 bareboat). These should not be considered bareboat with a crew - the crew is the crew that manages that boat, just like any other all inclusive.

If I had a $30,000 budget, forget the Cats, I would book this baby! The former chef from the Dove is the chef aboard.

Yes, the larger Moorings boats may be crewed that way, but the boats similar to the Sunreef are about double the living space and a much higher caliber of finishes, accommodation, toys, etc. It is a very different experience for the guests.

Perhaps your friend might be interested in Matau (1 king, 3 queens) or Aletheia (1 king, 4 queens)? I have no personal experience with either of these cats, but they both look pretty great to me.

Annnnd....this is my first post! Hi, everybody!
