Climbing in the BVI

Any one know which captains/charters that might be the best to help us with rock climbing spots? My son is graduating HS this June and he has asked for an "adventure" instead of anything else. Thinking a little island time would be perfect before he leaves for the Marines in July. He's super laid back and likes climbing and fishing. Any help with suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

Some fantastic "bouldering" opportunities can be found at the Baths and Fallen Jerusalem. Don't know if guides are available.

We always see a lot of climbers on Virgin Gorda. In and around the Baths, Spring Bay, the giant thingie at the far end of Mt. Trunk Bay. Maybe the Copper Mine from down hill on the ocean side. Great spots around Anegada well for fishing anyway but Lava Flow has a great rock to climb and then jump into the sea, beautiful beach on Tortola

Great suggestions- thank you. He's been watching videos of a group on Fallen Jerusalem! Just wondering if there are any captains (day or charter) that had any experience with the area, or locals that meet at places, etc. I am NOT a climber!

Climbing in the past in certain areas has been discouraged due to the nature of some of the formations and the danger associated with shedding rock faces...not an expert but this subject has come up over the years...I think the Belmont area of Tortola is a big no-no if I remember correctly.

We try to limit the chances of getting hurt on a boat far from home. But if you must....

Oh yes! Thank you StormJib- book has been ordered. I totally agree... I can't watch him when he climbs. Just hope we don't make Peebles a stop on the itinerary! I took him snorkeling for the first time last summer in the Middle Keys and he has the bug now for sure. Diving is next.

The boulders on the west side of Devil's Bay on Virgin Gorda are REALLY nice.
There are also granite boulders between the Baths and Devil's Bay.
Ditto Fallen Jerusalem.
There are some other rocks around, but quality varies.

if your staying on Virgin Gorda .. you can rent a boat and Captain from Bradley Powerboats and they will take you to Fallen Jerusalem , just be careful as medical care here is not the best !! Email them on bradleypoerboats@hotmail.com The girl there who works in the office is super helpful ..

Take the path up from Devils Bay to the Top of the Baths - not rock climbing but a nice short hike, pool, drinks at top. We've enjoyed hike on road from from Little Harbor to Great Harbor JVD - beautiful views. Again, not rock climbing but a great hike even if a little long. And hike up hillside trail at Little Harbor - views are awesome

Nobody ever mentions it but to the left of the ticket booth to the Baths is a path leading to the south end of VG. It is about 60 acres of national park full of boulders. Nothing too high but lots of aretes, corners and chimney to practice on.

Islegrl, any idea when in June you will be going? We have trip planned, June 16 - 26 with 2 families, each with HS senior boys graduating in June and 2 rising junior girls

There is a good trail starting from the north side of Bitter End over the mountain and across towards Biras Creek and end up back at BEYC.
