You could argue dangerous. One never knows what trouble you can get into. Ie. Dangerous to ones reputation?

As long as you dont mind getting groped from all directions. <img src="http://www.traveltalkonline.com/forums/images/graemlins/Yikes.gif" alt="" /> Watch your drink & use the buddy system.

Sunday is locals day. The roudy USVI crowd comes over for the afternoon and is in full roudy by dark.

On Sundays too watch for high speed boats through the mooring field..not a good time to swim off the transom..or snorkel.

It's a good night to go if you enjoy seeing overweight, drunk, naked, middle aged people.

ANY night is a good night to go it you want to see that! <img src="http://www.traveltalkonline.com/forums/images/graemlins/Laugh.gif" alt="" />
I get the impression that men & women experience Willy T-on-a-Sunday differently. From a short convo with hubby last night & reading a few comments here, men just experience it as a slightly more raucous, half-(or more)naked party environment. I never felt it to be dangerous per se, but enough of a grab-fest to make it worth going somewhere else.

I took my wife and two guys our last trip. We had just pulled up on the dinghy dock about 9pm and were standing there when we heard a big splash off the back. A guys swims up and gets out fully naked in front of us. I think I said something to the affect that "I didn't think the water was THAT cold!!". Lots of laughter from us and the bar, poor guy. We then went up to the bar to the bartenders spraying whip cream on a topless woman while another woman was...well...I'll let you use your imagination.
That was enough. We had a beer and left. Now we can all say we went to the famous Willy-T's the memory and the sights forever etched in our mind...

You just have to accept that body shots are part of the Willy T tradition and not an exclusively Sunday activity. <img src="http://www.traveltalkonline.com/forums/images/graemlins/Wink.gif" alt="" />

I rather enjoy the rowdy nature of Sunday nights at the bar but what I really don't like is all of the fast boats zooming through the anchorage.

Re: Willie T Norman island - 01/27/2016 03:05 AM
Yep Sunday is 'locals' night. Except, let me define it further. It's young, male (sometimes with dates), locals night, and they arrive in go-fast boats with little regard for anything or anybody in their paths. They're not there to pillage and plunder, but to have a good time - just like you.
Problems arise when one or more of three circumstances occur:
1.) A young, local male somehow offends a young visitor male in some inconsequential manner, or vice versa. Like bumping into one another on the dance floor or making a derogatory comment about Derrick Rose. Testosterone fueled idiocy ensues.
2.) A young, local male hits upon a young visitor female who happens to be accompanied by a young visitor male (or her father). Testosterone fueled idiocy ensues.
3.) And the most egregious...A young, visitor male hits upon a young, local female. Super-charged testosterone fueled idiocy ensues.
In short, it's no different than any other Caribbean club, and you have a distinct feeling that you don't belong there.
Instead of dancing and drinking half-naked and mostly drunk with the same people that you see at the Wal-Mart in Poughkeepsie, you are now in a very low-rent dung-island discotheque.
Ya might be comfortable with that, ya might not.

Willie T is Willie T..... We usually drop by and each time is different. It isn't a big place so a couple of 'boat loads' completely changes the place. If it looks like fun we hang out, if not we just move on. But Sundays are a no go for all the reasons mentioned; and with the high speed craft in the bay we simply pick other times to hit the Bight. That said, we have had lots of fun there.

Re: Willie T Norman island - 01/27/2016 04:05 PM
Very interesting and good to know. We just got back and we were there two Sundays ago. Lots of groping and grinding going on. One person in our party thought that some of the girls might have been prostitutes how they moved from one guy to the next and even reached for some of the men in our group.....the rest of us didn't think so much.
We are used to seeing body shots there but it was new for us when after the couple did a body shot, different guys and girls started walking up and continued to do body shots with the original girl! We didn't last long that night at the Wille T.

They aren't prostitutes. They are charters that sleep 8-10.

Re: Willie T Norman island - 02/04/2016 08:38 PM
I've been to Willy T's on a few Sundays (afternoon and night) and found the locals (including the working girls) tend to hang out there during the day but the sailors rule at night. I've always figured that Saturday is a common travel day so people provision and head out Sunday and Norman is a popular first anchorage. And for some folks their first night in the islands is often met with over indulging in the rum. On one Sunday that coincided with spring break (we didn't realize until we arrived), a couple college students got kicked out (how do you kick someone out of floating bar when the only two people working are busy making drinks like mad???). Saw people rolling off the dinghy dock into the water while trying to get onto their zodiac as well.
On visits on other nights its been pretty tame by comparison. Although Fridays (as it is often the last night before heading back to Roadtown) can also be wild.
It all comes down to what sort of people's behavior offends you.
I must say I do like their Painkillers though I am still in research mode as to where to get the best Painkiller in the BVIs -- i'm adding data to my thesis starting two weeks tomorrow......
