We will be down from May 1-15, hoping to catch one of his shows. Sounds like we might have to see him early in the trip.

Nick,

Will be in North Sound 04/14 - 04/15 and plan to bring a crew of newbies to the BBQ and jumbies on Friday. Would also like to get them to Michael Bean's show MT or W but we will be at the marina on Scrub those days. Leaving the cat at Scrub Marina, what is the best way to get to Leverick and back, so that we can see the show and have dinner? Thanks in advance for taking time to answer and look forward to seeing you in a few weeks.

Getting there on the North Sound Express is easy enough. It's the getting back part that's gonna be difficult.

I am not sure why you are going to stay at scrub for three nights but the obvious solution is to cut that back to two nights and take the boat over.

Personally I'd cut Scrub back by a day. We skipped it entirely last time in favor of an extra night at Peter & Leverick. Scrub is ok but they fall just shy of the kind of service & facility you pay for.

We watched both Jumbies and the Michael Beans shows with the kids and they loved it! Leverick Bay is fantastic with lots to do in North Sound. Not sure about transport back and forth as we are sailing. Enjoy!

Your only chance of getting over here is your own boat. The North Sound Express is no longer scheduled I'm afraid.

Do the Leverick Bay mooring balls usually fill up on MB show nights this time of year? If so, what time should we arrive to get one?

Re: Michael Beans Show - 03/15/2016 09:02 PM

Steve, skip the mooring ball and make a reservation for a slip with Nick. I think it's only $5 more than the ball (Nick I'm sure can confirm or deny) and that includes water fill up and a bag of ice. And you're all confirmed and arrive whenever you'd like!

I've never done a slip at Leverick, but I'll try most anything once! I sent a pm to Nick. Thx.

You get water and ice with a night on one of those mooring balls too. But the slip for $5.00 more may be the best bargain in North Sound.
Only 9 bareboat sailing trips for me at the BVI and I have yet to catch a Michael Beans show. Some day I hope to see one. The only Michael Beans show I have watched was last January when on a Sunday or Monday he single handed his boat from Arrrr Harbor to a mooring ball at Leverick Bay, and then later in the week on a Friday at Norman Island. I learned a lot from watching how he did that. I would have tried it a different way but after watching him, my plans have changed. That's the difference between thinking how it can be done and watching how it is done.

I really like Leverick and always make it a stop, however, the one time we took a slip there we were right next door to Chanticleer (a 100'+ yacht) and they had some machinery running all night long. Nobody slept much that night...well on our boat that is...the crew on Chanticleer probably slept well.

I love Leverick and normally stay on the dock. The one problem I see is they allow generators to be run on the dock. This is a dangerous as well as noisy practice. Moorings charters include free fuel and rather then pay for shore power they will run a genset all night long. If you are downwind and love the smell of diesel plus enjoy a little carbon monoxide high no problem. If not however you may be a victim of someone paying 10,000 dollars to charter a cat trying to save 15 bucks for a power cord.

The times there are geny's running all night long are far and few between. Remember the time with Chanticlear, the breakers tripped to the 100amp service.

I think we were in the wrong slip too! I still wouldn't miss stopping there. <img src="http://www.traveltalkonline.com/forums/images/graemlins/Cheers.gif" alt="" />

Heading there tonight! Dock, Beans, then dinner upstairs.
Favorite restaurant in the BVI. Consistently awesome!

Looks like no slip for us. Nick says they are booked, at least at the moment. We're happy on a mooring. If the moorings are full is there room and good bottom for anchoring?

Just left after a stay at Leverick..Beans show is mega popular..very full slips and mooring field..but great bar and the upstairs restaurant was amazing two nights in a row..delicious lunch at "The Fat Virgin" too (BLT with Brie and those fries!!)..not to be missed...at least got to see the amazing Monzi!
