Tell me about Bombas Shack. I didn't think I'd head there but my friend says everyone goes there. Probably not me.

Its a tumble-up rambling shack built from beach debris and dumpster diving over the last almost 25 years. Normally I'd say tumble down, but this place grew from the ground up. Drinks in plastic cups and (usually) cold beer along the shore. Its worth a stop for a photo or a drink. Full moon is a circus complete with clowns.

Back in the 90s when I was traveling solo, I'd hit Bomba's for BomBaQ BBQ night and get all the food I could stack on a plate for cheap. There were surfers and expats hanging around eating and chatting, occasionally getting rather 'shroomed up. Times have changed.

Cheers, RickG

Shack first came to being back in 1976, according to Bomba..worth stopping for a cold one..used to be great with live music on Weds, Sundays and Full Moon..now its mainly a DJ on Full Moon and a lot of hanging around..not the fun vibe it used to be. As said..well worth a stop for a cold one..Bomba is usually sitting in his graffiti covered SUV across the street.

Last Hurricane that hit Tortola did over $100,000 in improvements to the Shack. <img src="http://www.traveltalkonline.com/forums/images/graemlins/Groovin.gif" alt="" />

I thought they were called "jump ups". Used to be a few, but Bomba's was the most well known one. From what I recall most were there for a season and gone. Built from stuff that floats up after a storm, as has been mentioned.
