Kevin's Taxi Service

Kevin asked me to post this for him. If you want to book his services, please send him a text at 340-643-0025 with your info at least a couple days ahead of time.

He can't always check Facebook and there are a lot of people (some from here) sending him messages on Facebook and getting upset when he doesn't respond right away.

I texted Kevin yesterday with info for 4/21 pick-up but did not hear back from him. Is it usual that it takes him a few days to answer or will he just show up without confirming? This is the first time we are using him. We usually us Rachael when we go to St John via Red Hook but Kevin can so highly recommended on this site I decided to go with him.

Of course, we've done it many times, and will be again in a few weeks. We usually get over to Charlotte Amalie early, have lunch and then he takes us to the airport.
When he picks you up at the airport, just tell him your schedule.

Be aware that the STT government has added fees for Kevin to come to the airport, so picking up 2 persons is quite expensive. Killing the golden goose. Guy does a great job then hit him with fees to use the airport. I could not justify using Kevin last week.

Yes, cost me $90 to go to Red Hook last month. $50 for the return - so they are hitting him with $40 in fees just to come to the airport?

So, Kevin has to charge $90 from the airport to Red Hook...is that the same price as just grabbing a cabbie that's waiting at the airport?

The guy we use charges $75 for the first 4 passengers and $15 pp for each additional to Red Hook. From what I hear from the STJ crowd, the private options are more and more popular. Also reports from STJ long time residents they are getting over charged. Maybe the taxi cabal is biting back as they see market share slipping?

We always paid $90 for a private taxi from the airport to Red Hook or Sapphire.

Christoper Taxi is $75 to RH for up to 4 people.

He is charging us $65 for the private transfer. A bit expensive but I think worth it for peace of mind and getting us swiftly to the ferry dock. It's been 5yrs since we have been back to Tortola so a bit rusty on the ferry end...

Is that $65 to Red Hook or Charlotte Amalie? Kevin does a terrific job..we dont book him because we are usually not in a rush and, just two of us, we dont want to tie him up..that said we've used him when we've run into him..love the guy..wish all cabbies were as friendly and professional!

$65 to CA...he texted us and said up front that it was more expensive now due to regulations and also gave us the regular taxi prices to make our own decision, I liked the honesty in that! Will use him to get there as we want to make the 1:30 ferry, landing at 12:35 with checked baggage and will take a regular taxi upon return.

Malcolm - How do you usually travel from the airport to RH when you are not in a rush?

Also, when are you going to be back in June? We are staying at CRC June 15 - 18 and were hoping to meet you.

We are back at CRC end of May so we will be here to greet you and there will be cold ones in the fridge! Actually we nearly always just go to CA from the airport, not RH. On our way back on, for the past few trips, we have caught the 12.15 Inter Island ferry to StJ and on to RH. We leave our bags with the taxi office..stroll down the water to " FishTails" for a very nice, relaxing lunch..then cab from RH to (this time again) Emerald Beach..and then have a fantastic dinner at "Oceana" in FrenchTown..good night's sleep..breakfast and cab to the airport next day. We do this now because we've been down about 14 weeks !!! Anyway..see you here in June!

2 weeks ago, when we were told we be "the last 2" in a van...not going to do that for airport to Red Hook (hot, long, and uncomfortable) so we happily took a taxi for $90.00 total...considered it a good decision for us and our little contribution to the economy. Realize we are lucky to be able to.
