Pocket Knife ok to bring?

Pocket Knife ok to bring? - 06/06/2016 06:34 PM

I've searched Google and found conflicting info on having a pocket knife along. I don't have a set dive knife so I plan to take my Spyderco Pacific Salt, which is just under a 4" folding blade. It doesn't rust and I've been carrying one for about five years in and out of the salt water.

I like to have a knife on me while I am aboard a boat, but don't plan on taking it ashore or when I go out to the bars. Would I have any problem brining it in to the BVI on the ferry when it is packed away with my leatherman and filet knife in my luggage?

I would be more worried about TSA then the ferry.

Both the filet knife, leatherman, and pocket knife will be in checked luggage on the trip from the US

When my folding knife is disclosed in the tray at the magnetometer typically the security personnel place it into the backpack I'm wearing and away I go. Once I saw the pattern I started just leaving things like that in my bag and haven't had an issue after perhaps 100 trips. It's not the most restrictive security system...

Never had an issue bringing my Spyderco Tasman Salt into the BVI. I pack it in my checked luggage.

I always bring a pocket knife (in checked bags) and always carry it in my pocket while under sail. I'm old school, and believe every serious seaman should have a knife in their pocket at all times.

Arghhhhh, matey! <img src="http://www.traveltalkonline.com/forums/images/graemlins/pirate.gif" alt="" />

Walt, I have a rigging knife at the helm ready to go. I'm afraid if I put in my pocket and fell down it would be painful. <img src="http://www.traveltalkonline.com/forums/images/graemlins/Yikes.gif" alt="" /> <img src="http://www.traveltalkonline.com/forums/images/graemlins/jester.gif" alt="" />
