Moorings 514 PC question

Moorings 514 PC question - 07/17/2016 12:05 AM

We are making our second bareboat with Moorings in two weeks; can't wait. We are on the 514 PC. Can someone who has chartered this boat please tell me how well the electric grill works, and is it large enough to grill steaks, etc., for 9 folks? We plan to bring meats down, but not if the grill isn't capable enough to handle that large a load. I just have my doubts about an electric grill. Also, any other informative tidbits would be appreciated.

We just returned last night from our trip on the 514PC. Grill worked great for us. If I had to guess it was about 12-14"(D) x 20-24"(W). Might be tight with 9 large steaks. It does get very hot.

Thanks Bryan, just what I wanted to hear. Is one side or the other of the boat more noisy due to the genset and/or A/C. These are serious boat questions, I know.

Genset is next to the port side bow cabin. I was in that cabin, not bad, I enjoy the white noise. Nobody complained about the noise.

FWIW, we used ~147 gallons of fuel, $421. We did go to Anegagda, and ran the genset most of the time we were on moorings so we could run the A/C. We were in slips with shore power 2 nights. Weather was really nice with a constant wind/breeze.

Wow, where did you fuel for $2.86 a gallon?

I'll give another thumbs up to the grill - I am pretty sure its the same type they have on their 58 cats and it was awesome.

yes the electric grill works surprisingly well on both the 43 PC and the 51 PC. On the 51 it is almost twice as big so 9 filets OK, 9 T bones ..no go. The key is keep the lid down and maybe cut one zone of AC off as it does draw a lot of current. Make sure it is really clean and has a drip pan under it before your leave the moorings.

For what it's worth, on boat grills we like to do Kabobs... same grilled steak/chicken, just a bit easier to manage on the smaller grill.

Don't know about that boat/grill but if you think you will need more space or a different cooking speed for some of the food you should ask for an extra grill. They can probably at least provide one of the small round charcoal grills which might help out.
