BVIYC to Navigare

I was notified yesterday that my November charter, which was booked through BVIYC, is now with Navigare. Any thoughts, experiences, or concerns?

Navigare recently took over the charter operations of MarineMax. Did the notice to you say the had sold your contract to charter to Navigare? Or did the boat you contracted for transfer to the Navigare operator. November should be wide open for new bookings across the BVI. If you contract is broken by the operator you may be free to rebook across the fleets or at least within the fleet you have been dumped.

Do you have the boat you want at the price you want to pay for the days?

I think you reversed it. Marine Max took over Navigare's operations. Not the other way around.

Maybe so? The whole transaction is wrapped inside a "strategic partnership". The press release is written both ways depending on who the issuer was? Where does BVIYC fit in that mix? Why would charters be reassigned in the less than busy time of November? Maybe a new boat not ready to join the fleet in time?

There is much to be confused about. The crickets are deafening. If I knew this far out my charter contract was being sold or brokered? I would try to renegotiate to my advantage. Maybe for a brand new boat at a lower cost on a last minute booking.

Wow ... speculation is such a wonderful thing.

Navigare is a huge company based in Europe. They had placed THEIR boats in BVI Yacht Charters fleet for several years. BYIYC was responsible for booking and maintaining their boats for them ... knowing that at some point, this temporary arrangement would come to an end.

Earlier this year, it was announced that Navigare would be opening their own charter base in East End and managing their own yachts.

Nothing seems to have happened though and it now looks as though Marine Max is indeed getting involved.

I am certain that nothing has changed, you are still paying the same amount as you were when you booked the boat, the contract hasn't been changed and all the same conditions apply. Right?

It is simply that a different company will be managing the boat you will be on. No big deal mon! Enjoy your charter.
