Trip report 4-Heaven on earth

As the sun peaks up over the flat calm horizon of the Anegada anchorage I am in awestruck amazement of my surroundings and feel so lucky to be here in one of my favorite places with the love of my life, my hubby of 32 years and a new sister. Into the shore we go for Breaskfast at ARH and a bloody of course.




What is it about this drink that seems to heal all that ails ya? I am sure it is the vodka that brings up your alcohol level for hangover help but what is it physiologically about the tomato spice mix that is so magical? Inquiring minds need to know.

It is very hot again today but we are anxious for a beach crawl day…Captain Ward on the other hand , not so much…a wee bit under the weather today …. Oh well Bridget and I have done a solo beach day before. We can handle it again . You stay aboard and chill.

Over to check on a rental and they had one just our speed . Back to the boat to load up on necessities…beach towel, sunscreen, cozies and a cooler with cold ones ( think we have done this before or something ) Ward drops us off with scheduled pick up at 16:30…oh dear we are loose on Anegada …




Map in hand off we go…here comes the very dangerous complicated round about … OK we are going in the right direction … came across a bunch of vehicles with lights flashing … our hearts sink to realize there has been a bike accident.

The Anegada ambulance is there and they are tending to an obviously injured man on the side of the road. We would learn later that he was air lifted to peebles and suffered some fractures. ….please rent a jeep and not those things as they can be very dangerous …it has just rained really hard and he had lost control on a bad turn .

Now very nauseated and feeling just awful we motor on past and say a little prayer that he is OK.

First stop was flash of beauty ….gorgeous

this amazing specimen of a bartender made us some fabulously delicious concoctions…..don’t remember the name ..Bridget?





Chilled here for a bit then off to our absolute favorite place in hopes it is not busy…wow we are very lucky indeed and Belle and Ann are working their magic behind the bar with a manageable crowd present.

Ok lets go up the way to visit hidden treasure…. We miss you buddy .





Have some excellent fritters and fries then we must call it another fabulous beach crawl day and head back to the anchorage for pick up . We will head in later to see Peter and Desney ….my mouth is watering for some Lamb shank.

Predrinks aboard ….not sure what we had but may have been grey goose and club soda with lime?

All set for our 7 PM reservation and in we go….amazing amazing. They even had a fire show which was very entertaining…. Back aboard we go and good night Irene over took us weary vacationers .

Tomorrow we return to see our dear friends again …

Where is the bad turn on Anegada? It must be harder to see from a Jeep.

Actually now that you say it , it was not a turn at all...soldier had said something about it being a bad spot on the road...maybe uneven or bumpy or something?

yes - I don't remember the bend - we came up on the emergency vehicles blocking the road - we were going to turn around but they were getting ready to pull away. Remember? That first light truck went past us with its flashers on at a very high speed - maybe rushing back to organize the airlift since the injured man was still on the side of the road at that point.

The scooters have never been appealing...I much prefer renting a car!

There are way more scooter accidents on Anegada than most people are aware of.

Two trips ago we rented scooters on Anegada...on the way back from Cow Wreck I went thru deep sand and lost control. Thankfully I wasn't going fast (lol too scared to go fast) and went down in the sand. More embarrassed than hurt but the bruise was really ugly on my thigh and took many months to fully disappear. I got my iPhone 7 about a month ago and just love it! Great pics and I am having a great time playing with the portrait mode of the camera. BTW this iPhone can get a little wet so no worries if the camera gets splashed with wave water or a beer <img src="http://www.traveltalkonline.com/forums/images/graemlins/Clapping.gif" alt="" />
