Guavaberry photos - 09/19/2017 10:53 PM

Photos of houses on the Guavaberry property are posted on the DiveBVI Facebook page. They are credited to Valerie. Perhaps someone more knowledgeable than I can post a link. Thanks.

Guavaberry made their first post-Irma FB post this morning: https://www.facebook.com/guavaberryspringbay/

Not great news - much damage and they are cancelling all reservations for the season. I was holding out hope that it was not that bad, but the photos of Tina's place alone told the tale.

Copy/Paste from FB:

Finally got a (brief) internet connection. Thank you to everyone for reaching out after Irma. We are all okay though Guavaberry itself is not.
We have lost all of our two bedroom houses, our three bedroom house (Flamboyant), and two one bedroom houses (gardenia completely, and most of Cashew). The other one bedrooms suffered roof and window damage. The villas too took a beating, but all reparable in time. Tina's house is completely gone too so she is now living at the office for the time being.
Power and telecommunications are still down. Cell phones are slowly starting to get service but barely. For now, please know that we have to cancel all reservations for the upcoming season. We will be in touch when internet or phones are in better functioning order.
The staff are all okay and have been helping greatly in the salvage effort. The dogs are all okay too but greatly missing all the attention!

Happy news! Guavaberry has power restored and has one unit (Banyan) available for booking. We've booked February 10-17 (we were previously booked for March, but Irma wiped out our favorite cottage). I'm really looking forward to our visit. Tina also mentioned that they have 3 cottages under construction now that may be ready in March if all goes well. So instead of waking to the sound of chickens, we'll probably hear the sound of hammers! I am beyond thrilled that they are getting back up and running.
