Friends Boat Finally Found

Friends Boat Finally Found - 10/01/2017 05:12 PM

My friend emailed me today to say his boat was finally found - although he doesn't know where exactly - communication is scant. He owns a 52 Ft Lagoon with DYC in Tortola. There had been no word as to where the catamaran was or its condition until he received a message this morning.

Apparently, some one found photos of Azzurra on Facebook and forwarded to the owners. They do not know exactly where the boat is located. Based on the photos, it appears that only the props are salvageable. Who could ever imagine a boat of this size and weight would be flipped upside-down and resting in the water.

I will post the photos here if someone can let me know how.

The same storm that lifted a 60 + Voyage cat and put it on the roof of a building.....this was not our grandparent's hurricane...

Its no surprise the bigger the cat the more surface area per pound. Wind likes surface area to move things. Cats took a big hit in this storm. Not very many still floating right side up.
Me, A mono hull owner "Moby" a Bavaria 50 totally destroyed, in multiple pieces now.

There’s a reason that they put escape hatches on the bottom of the hulls on cats. <img src="http://www.traveltalkonline.com/forums/images/graemlins/Wink.gif" alt="" />

I know where Azzurra is. Also monohulls Pilu and Attila and catamaran Racunda (sp?). Feel free to inbox me if your friend would like more info.

Edit* or any of the owners of these other boats, obviously smile

Any chance you came across our Lagoon 450 "Chinook" which was with DYC in Paraquita Bay? Our insurance company sent a memo indicating that the entrance to the bay was jammed up with TUI's boats and there have been no action to clear them to allow a barge through.

No, sorry, but I can take some pics later today and see what I can spot. Salvage in Paraquita hasn't really started yet.

Any photos of Paraquita Bay would be greatly appreciated. I'm looking for Clare Buoyant, a 393 Moorings powercat, last known location was Paraquita Bay. Kind Regards

No worries, I'll be out that way later so will take as many photos of the bay as I can and see if I can spot anything.

Will likely be Monday before I'm back online though as no power/internet at home.

Wow, thanks so much. It is (was?) a 2017 Lagoon 450 Flybridge so it has the thicker stripes on the side and blacked out windows. my direct email is smaloney0212@gmail.com
We are hoping to be down there in late November as we have two weeks booked so I owe you a few beers!

Our boat is in Paraquita Bay as well, supposedly on the land. She is a 44h Helia FP (Moxie) and would really appreciate any pictures or information you could provide.

Ok gang, I had a look: many boat names are gone or not visible. Did not see Clare Buoyant or notice Moxie (but wasn't looking). I'll be there again this week and keep an eye out. I have a definite maybe on Chinook and will email the pics directly.

We actually received pics yesterday from our charter company (BVI Yacht Charter) and it sounds like they are going to start clearing out the bay in the next few weeks. Moxie is stuck in the mangroves, but looks relatively intact... we are hoping for the best and expecting the worst.
