Travel Health Insurance BVI - 06/26/2018 07:24 PM

Hi everyone! We will be travelling to Virgin Gorda for a week. Normally when we travel internationally we purchase medical insurance and evac. I just spoke with my US health insurance company and they would cover evac from US Virgin Islands to United States mainland. They also cover life and limb while traveling internationally. Because St. Thomas and St. John are so close I thought maybe it was not necessary to purchase a secondary policy. Just wanted to get your opinions of what you usually do?? Thanks for all of the help!

If I were having a heart issue or serious issue, I don't think I'd want to take the extra time for one policy to move me to St Thomas and then a 2nd policy to move me back to the United States. For the cost of weekly travel policies, I would recommend getting the normal medical/evac policy.

Does Virgin Gorda have a hospital that would treat something that serious?

Just a clinic on Virgin Gorda - you would probably be saved by VISAR but aftercare might be an issue - transport by boat to Tortola
