I am looking for recommendations for a place to rent a car in Roadtown.
Member "Tradewinds" says "we used Jerry's and he'll meet you at the ferry dock in Road Town."
We always used ITGO, across the street from Mill Mall. Not fancy, but worked, and cheap. And near where we were staying at Maria's by the Sea. I'm sure other ttol'ers will have some good suggestions. Don't forget, keep left and blow horn frequently...lol
Second Charlie's recommendation - proximity to Maria's worth at least 10 bucks in taxi fares. Don't forget to reserve ahead.
We used Avis at the cruise ship dock this past June. They were willing to do a one day rental. We walked from the Moorings, but when we got there they said they would have picked us up. They drove us back when we returned.
WE tried to rent from Avis once - we showed up at their offices in road town - no people and no cars.
How would the Charade (iTGO's cheap option) fare in getting up those Tortola hills?
Slowly..with spinning tyres if it rains. If that happens..back off the gas and feather the throttle round the curves or you'll be going down the hill backwards!
Spend the extra for 4WD.
Remember full coverage in the islands usually covers up to $1,000 and the estimated repair cost are calculated by the rental agency
Yes, perhaps that's wise. Was also looking at Game On! who seem to rent cars at a competitive price. And their vehicles look a bit better quality.
