Does anyone know if Pirates Bight is open yet? They said they would be open in October.

I believe it is..watch your bar tab there..had a very bad experience with bill padding there.IMHO..pay cash per round and make sure if you ask for "house wine" they dont give you the $22 a glass plonk ( that cost them about $5 for the bottle).

By 'service charge' do you mean they add the tip but call it a service charge so they're hoping you add a tip? By the way they're not supposed to charge tax on food - is that right?

Yes, they add in a service charge (tip), which they don’t point out, then hope you’ll add another 20% tip.

Used to be my favorite place to stop. Not anymore since they rebuilt the place is a complete rip off To Bad.

for what its worth, we had a very good dinner at Pirates last week. Food was good and service, despite a busy (very busy) night was also good. 20% service charge was added to the bill, as is often done in restaurants in the US in my experience, and given that we had a good experience with the waitress we left an additional $15 on the table. Didn't experience any pushback.

I have no problem with adding a service charge to the bill as long as it’s not put on the tax line and clearly states it’s a service charge. It should also be noted on the menu.
