Cooper Island Mooring when Resort is closed - 09/16/2019 12:24 AM

Hey All,

We are going be in the BVI October 11th - October 19th. I just realized the Cooper Island Resort says they are closed during this time. Does anyone know if we can still overnight there on a mooring ball? Else I have to reswizzle my itinerary.

Maybe use Boatyball while at Cooper?

The Moorings are always available.

We called Cooper. Even though the resort is closed, there is someone there to take your money to use the mooring balls. So there you have it.

Enjoy the less than crowded time. However, I am sure you will likely have neighbors on other balls, even in October.

I have moored there the last couple of years in October and there was nobody collecting...nice place to stop in October. As Wes indicates there were a few other people.

We generally go in Oct, and are leaving on the 10th for 10 nights. As @bailau said, often times we've stayed on a ball and no one came to collect. We've never had problems pulling into a field late in the day (as late as just before sunset) and finding a quiet place. In some fields we've been the only boat. In others we've been one of a half-dozen. Yes, we give up having everything open, but we're much happier with the no-crowd. If you like no crowds (and we don't get a storm) you'll love the BVIs in Oct.

It is great with nobody around...you can always check the webcam before you come over to Cooper

The Cooper Island webcam hasn't updated for almost 3 weeks. I guess they won't reactivate it until they re-open.

Interesting...I am sure I have used in past in October so maybe just out. Alternatively you could look at the boatyball site for Cooper and just make sure there is an open ball there you could hang out on which wont get checked.

I believe that webcam was part of a private property at the point that just sold this year.

That makes sense...no more Colorado state flag...I hope they keep the camera active

I will be down there the same time. I contacted Cooper and they said we can use moorings and the beach, but the resort will be closed until 10/25.
