North Sound Progress - 12/20/2019 04:31 PM

I haven't seen much in terms of updates regarding the progress of BEYC, Saba, or the Sandbox in the North Sound. Does anyone have any information regarding potential opening dates? The last update I saw was the BEYC clubhouse may be ready sometime in early 2020. Additionally has there been any maintenance to the moorings in the area? Headed down for my fifth trip in February and would like to know if there is any other options for shore time besides Leverick Bay.

I don't think you will find a BEYC club house any time soon. Understand they are cleaning up. Saba is being built but several more months to go.

We were down about 3 weeks ago. Lots of progress at Saba Rock but guessing they will not be open until the start of next season. Saw foundations being worked on at BEYC for the new store but I doubt they will be open before next season. Lots of infrastructure and clean-up work has been completed so hope I am wrong. Oil Nut Bay marina is open in the channel past Saba Rock and is one of our new favorites for a stop. Have slips and mooring balls. I don't think the BEYC and Saba mooring fields are being maintained.

We spent a night on a mooring at Oil Nut (Deep Bay) earlier this week. Will not be returning. Winds come from the east and the swell wraps around the point and comes from the north. Makes for a rolly night. We were on a 50' Moorings cat.

Fritz, how did you like that 50’ cat? Boat review?
That’s my next trip choice, just not sure of destination.

I own the cat. Previously I owned a Moorings 48, 46 and a 47. As a charter boat, its amazing. Watermaker, flying lounge, owners cabin, fresh water toilets (no smell), whole ship inverter ( no genny needed for coffee maker in morning or CPAP all night) 3 all power winches (remember those winch handles that slide overboard!) Easy single line reefing, 4 fridges and or freezers (convertible), forward cockpit with large sunshade overhang, power dinghy davit.

Free onboard wifi, chart plotter has weather, Netflix and Spotifiy.

List goes on and one.

Best cat I've owned or sailed hands down.

Owners time, available too...
