Sunsail 454 Question - dinghy

Sunsail 454 Question - dinghy - 02/08/2020 03:46 AM

Has anyone chartered a Sunsail 454 recently? (Out of Tortola, SXM or any Caribbean destination honestly.) Curious what dinghy engine size they put on. Generally in my experience where they make the grand leap from a 9.9 up to a 15 hp? I think that actual dinghy size doesn't change from boat to boat but I recall them having some with the slightly larger engines. (None of this is a decision factor but curious nonetheless...)

Thx,

Kevin

I have not seen a 9.9 in some time. They all seem to be 15hp. You can always ask them to swap it as the dinghies don’t belong to the boats.

Yep - last year sailed Sunsail 444 out of SXM (6 aboard) and they said the 9.9s went with 444s though there were 15s in the marina. I couldn't even grease a deck hand to make the switch after base said no - I tried. I almost switched the dinghys myself before leaving but figured that was a bad idea.

Our last two trips on our 40' Moorings Leopard we were given 15 hp outboards. The last one was quite new, I think that's what they are buying now.
