Emed testing

Emed testing - 10/12/2021 11:11 AM

I am trying to get my ducks in a row for my late November trip. Looking at testing options going home I planned on using the proctored Emed tests. Did some research and the online reviews are truly horrid. Most on the forum seem to like them. I am trying to grasp the difference here from other reviews. Has anyone not been able to produce a testing result accepted for return travel? What are average wait times to get a proctor online?
Thanks!

I took 4 and never waited more than 2 minutes for a proctor. I recall hearing early on that there were longer wait times but it seems they've been able to staff up.

Are the bad reviews about the wait time only or some actual issue with the test?

George we too are headed down late November. Just received the Binax Now tests that I ordered online. This will be our first time using them - actually first COVID test for that matter. Other crew members are on a waitlist to order them as they were out of stock.

Thanks for the reply. Do you have a link for the proper test to be proctored?

They can order them from
Optum in the mean time.

Ok, I am going to sound really stupid now. I go to the Optum site and I can order a 2 or 3 pack of the Emed test. No where does it mention these can be proctored. I remember a post stating they need to be the proctored version. Once you have purchased the tests is there another charge for the proctoring and who does it?

Directly from the website: "Your test kit includes a personal virtual visit with an eMed Certified Guide who will help you properly administer the test and third party verify the result. You must provide your official eMed Labs report in order to board your flight or cruise. The report is provided via email and can be printed or displayed on screen to provide proof."

We are arriving on the 14th. We did our test last night. I logged in on my phone and had no problems. My husband logged in on his phone and had some trouble connecting. We just kept logging in and were finally connected. The hardest part of the test was understanding the Proctor who had a very strong accent. Now crossing fingers that USVI accepts the test.

We have used them multiple times and I feel good about them. We did have 2 tests that did not report correctly. I witnessed both of these and believe they were both user errors. Be sure to follow directions and don't touch the parts you aren't supposed to touch (on the card and swab), and don't move them around while awaiting results. They acutally sent us a free new set of 6 because of our "bad test". We found that there were no waiting times early in the morning, but did have longer waits in the middle of the day. We are coming down in 3 days and are brining 4 tests for the 2 of us (just to have a couple of back-ups).

Also, one mistake I made was sending in the password protected results to the USVI Portal (which they could not open). Be sure and do a screen shot of the report and save and send.

George,

I did one as a practice and had no problem with getting a proctor and doing the test online. Results came via PDF as soon as my session concluded. I did have to have the proctor repeat herself a couple times due to her strong accent.

Filled out USVI portal for my husband and I. Got a green confirmation less than an hour later. That was super easy.

This is a long thread and full of great information. For clarity: Is the BiaNow e-med test accepted for both the USVI entry from the mainland and the entry into the BVI from USVI?

For entry into the USVI from the mainland, YES.

For entry into the BVI from USVI, YES in my personal experience. NO according to emails from HSA requesting clarity. If you're concerned, get a Rapid Antigen test before travel to BVI.

Al long as you have video capability, it should be ok. Someone recently posted on FB they used their phones.

Just used the emed test in Uk for return to USA. We used our iPhones. Our wait time was less than a minute.
Only issue was moving the phone to capture required info from proctor. Took a little getting used to...but no problem.
Once you got used to the Proctor accent ...easy. Call centre is probably in Philippines.

Will use for our trip to BVI in November.
