Xmas New Years Charter

Xmas New Years Charter - 10/28/2021 03:00 PM

(also posted in USVI Forum)
I am currently booked on a CYOA charter for the week after Christmas (27th-4th) on a new FP Astraea 42 Catamaran. We scheduled this trip a while back planning to sail to the BVI and meet up with three other boats for the week. Unfortunately, we are restricted from sailing the BVI waters. We have found another boat in the BVI that would work, but CYOA would need to find a replacement for our charter in order to move it. It appears there are few or no other boats available to charter in the USVI Xmas week and CYOA's rates are quite reasonable. I know this is a stretch, but thought I would post to see if TTOLers know of anyone looking to charter in the USVI that week who can't find a boat

That is the busiest week of the year for charters. I would think CYOA would have no issues rebooking it. The other hope is the BVI will open up to charter boats.

Yes. I hope so. Thanks, George. I believe that the BVI is actually open to charter boats now. But the real issue is that USVI charter companies don't want their boats going over there with the risk that the charterer gets a positive test on return to the USVI and gets quarantined and can't get the boat back. It sounds like their rules likely won't change until the US (or USVI) changes it's laws requiring a test on re-entry.

The BVI is not open to charter boats.
