BiNax Proctored Test Needs / Extras

BiNax Proctored Test Needs / Extras - 01/21/2022 12:17 PM

Thought it might be useful to have one thread where people can post extra tests they have available and when they need more. We are 21 people on 3 sailboats out of the Moorings inbound to the BVI, leaving the mainland now. On my cat we have 10 tests for 7 people. If we have extras we will post here and can leave them at the Moorings office or hand them off somewhere.

btw Dolphin Water Taxi indicates on their website that they will purchase leftover test kits on guests return for use by other guests that need them.

Please don't sell them to Dolphin; leave them in the BVI.

Dolphin is telling everyone the proctored tests aren't accepted for entry into the BVI.

Strange that they would promote buying extras on the one hand and telling people those very same tests are not acceptable for use??? Something doesn't make sense.

I just came and returning today with Dolphin, they did not tell us proctored tests not good. They worked like a charm both ways. Be sure however to have safari browser as they are not compatible with chrome. We had to do both tests from same phone due to browser issue.

We have used Chrome on our laptops for all our tests, coming and returning for the last two trips. No issue at all. My husband used Chrome once on his phone as well.

We got the email from Dolphin when we booked with all our instructions and it said proctored tests are not accepted. I think they just haven't updated their printed info. I brought it to their attention (in December!) but apparently they still haven't fixed it.

Chrome worked fine for us too.

Dolphin was on Facebook on Thursday saying they had people denied entry to the BVI. From personal experience, Dolphin has a habit of the left hand not knowing what the right hand is doing.

I finally gave up on that FB thread when they wouldn't answer my question about whether they deny boarding to people who used the eMed test kits.

It's pretty clear from a practical point of view that the tests are accepted and probably over 100 people/day have been arriving with them since December.

I can 100% verify the eMed PROCTORED test results are accepted (as I type this from The Bight).

https://www.emed.com/products/covid-at-home-testkit-six-pack

Ensure you get the PROCTORED test kits (link above). With these you set up an online account so an actual human live chats with you through your devices camera and walks you through self administering the test and then 15 minutes later, checks the results with you. Within seconds, you receive your CLIA verified test results via email. PRINT THIS and you are good to go.

Tips:
-Many people are buying the other Non Proctored Abbott test kits- this is where the issue lies you need the lab results that many "at home" test kits do not give you.

-Follow the instructions carefully from the start and you will be fine. DO NOT open the test kit box until you are told. Invalidates the test.

-Buy more than you think you need. Hear of many false negs or pos that were solved by just taking another test. My crew of 8 has taken 14 tests so far. flights were delayed and the two day window expired needed for the BVI entry. I recommend 3-4 tests per person. still cheaper and WAY easier than trying to schedule and travel to a test site on island.

- You can use a cell phone or laptop to take the test and follow along with the proctor. They will turn on your front and back cameras and ask to see things flat on a surface in front of you while you need both hands to do the test. A second person holding a phone works best rather than awkward propping of either device.

Good Luck All
