Flights - 03/25/2022 07:02 PM

I have waited too long, apparently, to book flights for our charter in June/July. Prices have doubled in the last couple weeks to fly from ATL to STT on Delta (our usual route). Any tips to help get us there for a reasonable fare? I was planning to stay a couple nights on St John before our charter, but we're also fine with coming straight into EIS. This is our first time chartering in BVI after many land-based trips to USVI so any advice is appreciated.

You aren't alone. I am already looking at flights for our December trip and they are crazy expensive this far out. We have always flown Delta NYC to STT Nonstop but are looking at other carriers. I won't fly smaller planes and multiple stops means I can't catch the ferry same day so I am stuck. You may do better flying through San Juan.

Prices are crazy. I waited for our April trip to insure I had the time off and prices soared. Looking at loads the flights are in fact almost full. People want to travel.

Are you close to any other cities, maybe in Tennessee?

We are in East TN. Not too far from Charlotte, but American Airlines prices are just as high as Delta. We're about 4 hours from Nashville and ATL.

Have you checked Southwest and Jet Blue from Nashville? Southwest you will need a connecting flight from SJU. We are looking for early December from Memphis and American is, by far, the cheapest to EIS.

Here are my tips: look for one way tickets rather than round trip. Early Tuesday morning is often a good time to buy. Search using Google Flights, then follow the link to the airline's site and buy there.

Just checked Priceline for June 14 out of Atlanta to STT return June 20. Fare was 545 I think. Other times ranged from 550 to 800+. I would check soon and make purchase. 550 round trip is a good price

RatmansWife, I have not checked the flights out of Nashville so thanks for that tip. I'll check on those today.

Part of our problem is that we're not very flexible on dates. We need to arrive between Friday, 6/24, and Sunday, 6/26. Flying mid-week would be much better, but unfortunately that's not an option.

That's our problem too-we booked our villa again for Dec 26th arrival. Paid a ton last year but figured that was COVID. I am afraid high fares are here to stay.

While flying midweek is better and cheaper, tip is to BUY tickets on Tuesday morning. For some reason, there can be better deals then.

Looks like your best bet is from Charlotte on American to EIS.
