Ft Burt Hotel - 07/20/2022 06:21 PM

Looking to do overnight before boarding our TMM charter next year.
Ft Burt is very convenient, but the TripAdvisor reviews are not flattering at all.
How bad is it... or not? Any resent experiences?

When we went down in February we had a sudden hiccup in our plans that ended up having us spend our first night at Ft. Burt. Granted it is old, rooms are pretty worn but they are cozy. The rooms are much cheaper than a lot of places. For a "hurried" need for hotel rooms we found the rooms were clean and beds just fine. All we wanted was a bed to sleep in overnight. The staff was wonderful. We came down for breakfast right when they were closing but they went out of their way to serve us a great meal. I would rate it as ok but not my first choice. I would most likely go to the hotel at Nanny Cay first. Bear in mind there is a price difference. WHAT was really nice is the PUB is just across the street and the food was great. I have passed by the Pub for years and never thought anything of it. Now I look forward to eating there again. Their lobster bites are great!

Also, keep in mind there are steps to climb if that's an issue.

I would head over the hill to Cane Garden Bay..stay at Jason's and enjoy the great beach for one night. Myett's is also a nice option..cant see staying in Road Town if I dont have to. You are a ten min cab ride!

Thanks for responses. Couple of good options to think about.

We own Sea Tiger in TMM fleet. I have not stayed there, but had a client who did stay at FBH. He and his son reported that it was basic, clean and convenient.

I did not know Jason (Coconut Breeze) did 1 night rentals, but that would be nice to enjoy CGB for 1 night.

I too have enjoyed eating at The Pub recently.

If a "sleep aboard" is available, I highly recommend that as the costs likely similar to hotel and allows you to get settled aboard, provisioned and ready to go earlier the next day. TMM charters officially start at noon, but they will allow/assist you in getting off earlier.

Thanks Wes,
First night onboard is on the table as well, with dinner at The Pub.
The Pub seems to be timeless. Been there a long time.

Doing land based trips for many years on VG we have tried most of the options on Tortola for a night or two - this year we stayed one night on the way to VG after late arrival and one night on the way back to STT for fun at Jason/Tiffany's Coconut Coast - it's our only option from now on - easy to get to - great people - who doesn't love CGB and great restaurants an easy walk away.

Maria's By the Sea seems to be an option. We always are on board the night before we leave the docks but I remember a recent FB post from a group chartering with TMM that stayed at Maria's (not sleep aboard option available) and had a great experience (with photos).

We just spent two nights at Nanny Cay hotel before and after our Conch charter (after asking this forum about it. Thanks!)

Overall we would definitely recommend it. There have recently renovated most of the rooms (make sure to ask) and it’s quiet and an easy dock walk to a beach, pool, two restaurants (Omar’s is awesome), laundry, Riteway provisioning, taxi stand and liquor store.

(Okay, quiet except for the 5am rooster)

Kids loved it and it felt very much like a small community of cruisers, families and charter crews. (Similar to our home port of Oriental, NC)

Maybe 10 min cab to Fort Burt.
