Re: Chillout Charters- quick question - 08/11/2022 01:21 PM

We will be booking four transports with Chillout Charters water taxi. Their protocol is to fill a form out with all the credit card info and scan then email it. I have always hesitated to email financial info for obvious reasons. But presumably this is the only way. For those who have dealt with them ( or likely any of the water taxis)..... am I missing something? TIA

I have sent the information minus the last 4 digits and expiration date of the credit card. Then I send that information in a separate email immediately following (you could call, but often it is hard to get someone). It minimizes the likelihood of intercepts (what most people worry about) and gets them the info they need. Have yet to have a complaint about it. Good luck!

Keep Smiling!!!

Chillout offered me a secure payment link.

I had emailed them a few times hoping they would do the same carpeperdiem. But got the same response. And now I'm seeing that they only accept Visa. I always use my Mastercard to get the miles (and this totals to quite a lot of $$) and the only visa I have is my debit card linked obviously to my bank account. Ugh This makes me super nervous Their reviews are terrific and I'm sure it's worth jumping thru these hoops but ....... I am going to look at options. Thanks all for your responses. Time Will Tell, I like your idea a lot. If I proceed I will do this as well. From someone who has had credit card fraud occurences, it's a mega headache. Enjoy your day everyone

Thank you for this tip! I will use this for my villa payments in the future. I have always been nervous of scanning and emailing full info as well so this will make me feel a lot better.

See if Chillout's competition accepts MasterCard. We, too, have had issues, and no way I would give out debit card information.

Am I missing a search bar tool on this web site? I would love to pull up (for instance) "water taxi" and see the threads associated. Am I staring at it? (which is quite possible) duh

SEARCH is way up to the top right of your screen. You can try it, although it doesn't work the best. If you are searching for two words, please put them in quotes, as in "water taxi"

Thank you Carol_Hill. Apparently, yes. I was staring right at it. Thank you

Never ever give out debit card information or for that matter let it leave your hand!!!

I paid with my jetBlue mastercard, no international fees.

Perhaps a phone call is worth your time to sort this out?

I had specific needs (a paid stop in St. John on the way to Nanny Cay - coming up on Monday!) - and I spoke with >4 different water taxis... I found the communication from Deane and Rachel could not have been more professional and timely. They got the job done, and their communication was as good as any vendor, anywhere.

FYI, here is an obfuscated copy of one of their emails to me...

>> To lock in a reservation, we have attached our Booking Form to complete and once this has been received and payment has been processed in full (like airline companies and travel agents), we will then send you your Booking Confirmation and further information. If you do not wish to fill out the card info on the form, please leave this blank and use this encrypted link to provide it:
>> Please kindly note that VISA or MC payments are preferred, and bookings are taken on a first come, first serve basis

And that was that.

Perhaps call them?

Off topic but I'm checking out Chillout charters for an upcoming trip STT to BVI. Am I correct in seeing the cost is $60 for 6 of us travelling and any other details I'm missing?

Definitely not correct. You will be way over $1000. Contact them directly for a quote.
