Happy Thanksgiving musings from the BVI - 11/24/2022 04:18 PM

This is my first Thanksgiving down here and this week has been spectacular! ...The weather is beautiful of course and staying in Malcolm and Candace's lovely lower unit of CRC is always a special. Missing Candace dearly of course, many memories here. The wind and waves have been up! Surfers are enjoying some hang ten in Apple Bay all week and especially today. Falling asleep at night to the waves, priceless. No nature sounds sleep app needed here! Many, many thanks to Malcolm for his humor and being an awesome host.

Food and libation contemplation.....Gene's in Manuel Reef is just OUT OF THIS WORLD....she is a Gene-ius in the kitchen. Both her cooking and dessert skills which is an art and a science.... clearly made with love.....and of course she is just a wonderful human! Off the beaten path a bit but those who know, know! So worth the trip there. If you are chartering out of the marinas in the Roadtown area and are doing sleep aboard do not miss...she will also deliver but the food and hospitality on site are where its at. The bay there still has quite a few wrecked/ half sunk Irma boats which, like any train wreck, is sad but still oddly fascinating to see.
The Sugar Mill food and staff are lovely as ever, service and food are top notch, Malcolm and I are going for the Thanksgiving feast tonight.
The Ginger Wine Chicken at De Coal Pot is just how I remember it from Palm's Delight, such a unique and delicious flavor...and this is coming from someone who rarely orders chicken entrees in a restaurant.
Omar's in Soper's and Nanny Cay are just dialed in on their Indian Food, samosas, paratha bread, Indian curries yum ... They do have other menu items as well but if you're an Indian food lover this is the spot.
Indigo House ...awesome drink specials, food and all around vibe with a few Vishaal Specials made me feel extra "special" toast, ......

So far have been blessed to spend some time with Bruce and Andy, Walker and Nancy, Island Jim, Malcolm's good friends Dewey and Mary and a bunch of local staff who Ive come to know over the years.

One more week so I'll have more to come! Today I'd like to say I'm extremely thankful for many things but the lifelong friends I have met through this site are irreplaceable.....almost 20 years ago before the Facebook world existed this was our "social media".

Cheers to the TTOL family, a toast to the ones who have passed on but remain in our hearts, and cheers to this special place, the BVI that we love toast.... and of course, thanks always to Eric and Carol for providing us children with this sandbox to play in!
