Ferry confusion Wed 1/25

Ferry confusion Wed 1/25 - 01/16/2023 07:27 PM

When I go to BestOfBvi.com and plug in St Thomas to Tortola, (ultimate destination is VG) it appears there are no wednesday departures. But if I go to Road Town Fast Ferry, it says there is a 2 and a 5:30 from CA. Making the 2 pm would have to be a perfect storm of events but doable if the Delta flight arrives early which it sometimes does but I need a backup plan. No checked luggage.
The 5:30 is an option followed by a taxi to EIS to get the Speedys to VG. Long day but I am hosting them so they won't want to stay a night somewhere. I am aware of the water taxis but for 3 people that's a big expense. Worth it to me, but not to everyone, understandably. No Cape Air flights on Wednesday either. Didnt know Wednesday was such a jinxed day??

To further complicate things, I went to VirginBookings.com and it shows there is a 4 pm CA that I can actually purchase on their site. But Native Son's web site not showing it??

Is there another Web site that some of you regulars use because BestofBvi is not 100% and I'm not seeing Red Hook's schedule clearly. I feel like I MUST be missing something. TIA

There are 3 ferry companies that do STT to Roadtown. Roadtown FAst Ferrry, Smiths Ferry and Native sun. All three have their own web sites which show the days and times they run that route. You need to look at each ferry companies site to find the times and days you want. Before you buy make sure you want their tickets as the tickets are non-refundable and non-transferrable to the other ferry. I suggest you do not buy tickets until you are at the ferry dock especially if you have a tight connection.

I disagree - purchasing in advance secures a seat if you are traveling on weekends.

Addendum- I just heard from Best of BVI web site and they have fixed the error. So at least I wasn't actually losing my mind. LOL Thanks all. Everyone will get there. Just counter intuitive how un-user friendly they make scheduling

In my experience, a reservation does not guarantee a seat. You still need to arrive early.

there is a 4th ferry service that runs out of Red Hook. Aquatic something, you can google it. They have a 6:00pm to Road Town....that has been our backup if we miss the regular CA ferry.

What happens to your pre-purchased tickets in the event you show up and they don't have a seat for you? If that is the case, then why are we all pre-buying tickets? Seems not being guaranteed a seat defeats the whole purpose. And I can't imagine any of those companies issuing speedy refunds.
