I'll guess $10. When you do the math, it's a lot of revenue. But who really benefits?

Do they pay the 10 dollar environmental fee and the 20 dollar departure tax? 25 knots of wind forecast today. Have to love the early Christmas winds!

Mal--by the way, I don't think it matters whether the person actually comes ashore or not. I think, although I am not certain, that the cruise ship tax is based on the occupancy of the ship or how many people are actually ON the ship on that sailing, as well as some fee for the ship itself.

Mal, I guess I am showing my lack of knowledge here. I had to look up Romasco. They pretty much have a finger in everything happening in the BVI. This has to be pretty upsetting to property owners like you. It makes the BVI look like a banana republic.

The only reported fees we’ve seen related to ports are the port fees, I’ve never researched what the components are…

This site lists fees associated with porting, including a “head tax”…
The link didn’t work but it’s a brief search that found a cruise.blog article…

Romney brought in the cruise ships and set up several busineses tiied into them..taxis, boat trips and I believe Romascos are the only ones allowed to pull right up to the ships...all other cabbies get leftovers outside the gates...The family own Ocean 7 and ship the cruisers there and, sadly, the land the Old Jolly Roger/Fish and Lime was on...I know of folks who have trtied to make a deal to rebuild there but the family offer was "exorbitant"

Miss Jolly Roger! Loved the pizza at the bar and the jerk lobster on the deck…

Some of the best meals we ever had in the BVI were at the Jolly Roger.
