Culebra Moorings

Last year when we visited Culebra by boat there were moorings in some areas that indicated they were for day use only. Are there moorings available around Culebra for overnight use....?

There are moorings in the Ensenada Dakity anchorage. We were there in November and most of the moorings were full with long-term liveaboards. We anchored without any challenges. We have also overnighted on moorings at Culebrita. On the north side we have seen many day use moorings and have used a few, but nothing overnight. In Ensenada Honda we anchor between the town dock and Pirate Caye.

We've had the same experience as RickG, there were some moorings but they were either occupied by liveaboards or day use. A few years back there were several well maintained moorings but I've heard the funding was cut and they seem to be more of a thing of the past now. Anchoring behind the reefs in Culebra and at in Culebrita was pretty shallow and no problem.

In November virtually all the mooring balls were marked as Day Use. We counted the following mooring balls around Culebra:
Ensenada Dakity - 24+
Bahia de Almodovar - 12
Playa Tamarindo - 7
Playa Carlos Rosario - 6
Cayo Norte - 2 (S-E bay), 1 (S-W bay, 1 (West bay)
Culebrita - 12+

Make that Cayo de Luis Pena (with ~4 mooring balls), not Cayo Norte. Didn't see any mooring balls around Cayo Norte.

To Hijack slightly... there are 6 overnight pay-moorings off Esperanza, Vieques.
