St. Thomas areas to stay

St. Thomas areas to stay - 03/05/2020 04:40 AM

It's been over 10 years since our last visit to St. Thomas. Previously we stayed on Sapphire Beach several times. This time, we have chartered a Catamaran out of Red Hood to the BVI for a week, but will spend 3 days on St. Thomas afterwards. I would like to know about what we need to see this time around? Has much changed in 10 years? We loved Duffy's Love Shack in Red Hook, and generally touring around. Just wondering if there are areas to avoid and areas to look into. Thanks!

Good morning! We have been bookending our trips to the BVI and STJ for years and have stayed many different places. If you are going to be touring around, you'll be renting a car? Taxi fares add up quick.
~ Emerald Beach Resort : located on a great beach, rooms are very clean, nice pool, good food, fun bar, near the airport. Very nice....we're staying there again on our way back in the end of May

~ Green Iguana: walking distance to downtown ( during the day, not at night ), very clean rooms, great managers on site, no other amenities

~Island View Guest House: not far from the airport, nice pool, gorgeous views, honor bar, wonderful owners ( unless they sold it, then I don't know ). They used to serve fabulous dinners Thurs-Sat, but I'm not sure where they are at with that. You can't really walk anywhere from there, so a car or taxis are needed.

~ Olga's: Walk to Frenchtown ( great bars, restaurants) and downtown, very clean rooms. Quite a few stairs to schlep your luggage up tho.

~Bolongo Beach Resort and Two Sandals By the Sea: they were great when we stayed there a few years back, I'm not sure about now. Two Sandals is an easy walk to Red Hook ( Duffys! )

~ Margaritaville: located on the east end. You'll want a car. Amazing resort... beach is just ok, but the rest of the place is awesome! Very clean, beautiful pools ( especially the upper one with a swim up bar and beautiful views). Bar and restaurant on site of course! If you're a Buffett fan it's a must!

Sapphire and Duffy's are still here and operating but after 10 years and 2 Cat5 storms MANY things have changed especially in the bar/restaurant sector.
Red Hook still has a food and drink presence -- Frenchtown has really upped the stakes and Havensight has emerged as a drinking destination as well.
If you don't need Beach after all the boating :
Green Iguana is very reasonable
Olgas Fancy is convenient to ferry, town and restaurants.
Mafolie is a great view, comfortable and center of the island location.
Emerald Beach by the airport is a popular post charter spot.

Obviously the previous Poster submitted as I was typing.

Check out our condo located at Point Pleasant on the East End! The view from the balcony is spectacular and the privacy is wonderful!

The complex has three pools and two on-site restaurants. One, Mirador, is a fine dining experience and the Shoreline Grill restaurant is sitting right at the water's edge. You can walk the shore to Margaritaville and on to Coki Beach from the property. Lindquist Beach is a quick 3 minute drive away too! The condo is 5 minutes from Red Hook and all of the fun that can be had there! Red Hook is the home of Duffy's, XO Bistro, Bernies, The Island Time Pub and more! I also suggest Taco Chelles for some great homemade tacos.

PM me for photos and more information on our unit! We'd love to have you stay!

Best!
