Ice purchase and trash disposal on STT / STJ charter? - 03/06/2021 12:28 AM

Any suggestions for where to purchase ice and dispose of trash while on a STT and STJ charter? Any options in Coral Bay?

Hello from Coral Bay. You can drop trash in the NPS anchorages at Hawksnest, Trunk Bay, Cinnamon Bay, Maho Bay (across the street at the parking lot), Francis Bay, Great Lameshure Bay, and Little Lameshure Bay.

At the Coral Bay dinghy dock there is a trash bin provided by the Coral Bay Community Council for $5 per bag. You can also walk to the free trash bins by taking a left at the dinghy dock, walking past the free trash bin, and walking down the donkey trail that is cleared by the Coral Bay Yacht Club. When you get to the road you go left and the trash bins are across from Love City Mini Mart. Love City Mini Mart has ice. Ice is also available at Dolphin Market that is on the West shore, no dinghy dock. You can tie up to a tree or drop a dinghy anchor and wade in.

In Cruz Bay, the public trash bins are hike down South Shore Road. The NPS Visitor Center has a couple of trash bins, but staff will tell you they are not for boat trash. Down the drive is a private dumpster at an apartment building. You can get ice at Dolphin Market, Bayside Mini Mart, or Baby's Mini Mart.

We did not find the trash receptacles at Great Lameshure last month. And remember, these are smaller receptacles at NPS sites are not big bins/dumpsters for multiple big bags of trash or bottles/cans. We got ice at the Cruz Bay fuel dock (no walk lugging bags) and at Dolphin (wear water shoes/sandals no dinghy dock and not fun bottom). Busy Bee also brought us some bags when they met us for our rendevous dive (they are so great!).

MIDiver, there are trash receptacles at the NPS dinghy dock/pay station.

I second the team at Busy Bee. They are great people and a great operation. If you need tank fills, gear, or a dive in Coral Bay they are awesome. I bought my gear for them.

Well our garbage and payment designees managed to find the payment station at Great Lameshure but completely missed the trash. Fail. LOL.

Busy Bee is indeed wonderful. We dive with them several times a year.

We were over at Leinster today and saw trashcans. They are at the start of the paved road on the left side across from the water. This is at the corner of the drive up to Annaburg.

We spent two nights at Great Lemeshure last week. 11 balls currently, of 12 listed, as one mooring is without tackle. We were advised by Alister, the NPS volunteer who visited with us, that the bins had been removed. No trash disposal there currently or at Salt.

We asked about dingy lines at the snorkel sites, and he said that been suggested, but no action taken. From his electric powered dingy, he also advised of a 5mph limit in the bay!
