St Croix first time visit - 12/02/2013 01:56 AM

We have been regulars on St Marteen but are considering a trip to St Croix. Would love to hear input on your experience on St Croix.

Hi. We have visited St. Croix numerous times and like it so much we have bought some land there. I have never been to St. Marteen so do not have comparisons. St. Croix is big enough to have something for everyone. There are a few larger resorts (Bucanner, Carombola and the Divi). We hae always stayed in a rental villa, rented a car and combine going out for meals with cooking in. There are wondeful beaches, some hiking, snorkeling and excursions out to Buck Island and there are also numerous places to dine (Dugan's Reef, Blue WAter Terrace, Savant, Bombay Club are a few of our favorites), but there may not be as much or the variety of dining that St. Marteen seems to be famous for. There are two rum factories (Crucian and Diagio), two main citties, a rain forest with beer drinking pigs. Really depends on what you like to do, but there is a nice variety in my opinion.

St Croix is very different from St Martin in that there's not as much shopping, hotels etc. In short, it is not as commercialized. St Croix is very nice. Beautiful topography. One end has majestic mountains and cliffs and looks like the north shore of Maui and the east end has rolling hills and pastures and looks like Ireland. THere is a great wall for scuba diving on the north shore. The restaurants are great. There are many and we never had a bad meal. A full service casino is at the Divi. It is different than St Martin, but special and I think you will like it.
