Depending on how many people you are, you may see what Pirate's Penny itinerary is, or if they might do a custom trip for you. If you are a small group, try Cinnamon Bay.

The STJ to JVD ferry is the cheapest option. 6-pack style motor boats run $600-$700 + fuel + Captain's tip for a day trip with up to 6 people. Check out Palm Tree Charter with Capt. John or Isle Mon with Capt. Kevin. Calypso runs a couple of difference larger group boats, Pirates Penny, Born to Rhumb, New Horizons are some of the USCG inspected vessels that can take more than 6 on a shared excursion. Ocean Runner rents their boats with guides for a go-where-you want approach.

We did this on our own with Nauti Nymph. I seem to recall a past topic though where I think it was mentioned they may not allow this without hiring a captain now?

For 4 of us, cost was reasonable enough and we did a loop around tortola, stopped at the baths and caves. I'd probably skip the loop if we were to do it again and go right to the baths, then cooper for lunch maybe with a stop at the indians. Should be possible to fit that all in.

Is the Baths a must visit?

I was told by a charter captain that very few, if any, private charters go there anymore because it is too long of a ride and too costly (fuel).

Friends of ours went to the Baths on Stromy Petrel and liked it.

Capt. John of Palm Tree is great if you elect not to go to the Baths.

I'd say the Baths is a must see once. Once you've seen it, you've seen it, but I do think it is worth seeing.

There are plenty of things to see and do if you don't go there, such as JVD, the Indians, Caves..etc.

St. John to the Baths? It's a long run. I definitely recommend the Ferry for that. You don't have to swim in from a mooring, you take a taxi from Spanish Town. The ferry is faster, cheaper and you get more time on VG.

I am trying to get it all done in one day. Baths I feel is a must since I have two newbies. Otherwise I would skip as I have been there many many times.
Thanks for the suggestions, there are several new names I have not found, so that should be helpful.

Stormy Petrel and Pirates Penny are the same operstor, but I could not remember the name Stormy Petrel in my post above. The owner of the sailboat New Horizon also has a larger power boat that goes to the Baths and elsewhere. I forget the name of the boat but believe it operates out of Sapphire on STT.

Pirates Paradise Adventures worked out well for us in December.

New Horizons II is a powerboat that does The Baths, Marina Cay and Soggy Dollar in one day. Departs from St Thomas but will pick you up in Cruz Bay St John. Have done three times over the years. Always had a great day.

Bad Kitty with Calypso Charters goes to The Baths. http://www.calypsovi.com/ - they do the "loop" that Matt mentioned above...stopping at the Indians or the Caves and ending at the Soggy Dollar - (in my opinion the Soggy Dollar is another must see for newbies : )
Wish upon a Star also does a Baths trip - http://www.virginislandsthisweek.com/st-thomas/powerboats/wish-upon-a-star.html
Good luck finding the right one

It would need to be a calm day to do both the Baths and Jost, but check out www.Flyawaychartersvi.com Truman departs from Coral Bay behind Skinny Legs. Have enjoyed many many day trips with Truman. He was $495 plus fuel and customs for private charter on the 26ft Glacier Bay powercats! <img src="http://www.traveltalkonline.com/forums/images/graemlins/Cheers.gif" alt="" />
