IZI New Year's Eve

IZI New Year's Eve - 01/01/2015 11:04 PM

We had a super dinner at IZI last night. They had a set menu for New Y.E. but had 3 entrees to choose from. The staff was all over us and everyone was beyond happy and friendly. We must have had 4 or 5 different wait staff checking on us. The atmosphere was so warm and welcoming. They had super appetizers, entrees and deserts and we couldn't have had a nicer evening celebration. I want to go back now for Italian because I ordered duck and didn't have a chance to really order their Italian offerings. Highly recommend this restaurant, not for the Italian because I didn't have any but because of their warm friendly atmosphere showing that they really cared.

We have always enjoyed dining at IZI and can recommend their Italian menu. The staff have always been friendly and attentive and try hard to make your evening a relaxed and enjoyable one. Glad to hear you enjoyed your time there as well.

I guess it's just me, but I'd prefer that the waitstaff not be "all over us". To be interrupted multiple times while I'm trying to enjoy my meal is annoying.

When I say "attentive", I don't imply they are all over us! That certainly is not the case there. They are always available if you need them for anything and check after you get your meal to see that everything is exactly as you ordered. If you need anything, they insist that you don't hesitate to ask and then they let you enjoy your meal in peace. That to me is good service, and I don't consider that annoying in any way.

What I don't expect (or want) is the waitstaff at the table every 2 minutes. BUT I do expect to see them glancing at my table often to see if I am wanting them.

I should have directed my comment to the original poster, who used those words.

I agree with you GaKaye. I don't like service TOO overly present.
As for the food at Izi, it's fine but I don't find it outstanding. I prefer the meal we had last year at Tutta Pasta.

The owner David is wonderful, known him since the days he had a small place in Sandy Ground and then in Cupecoy. Food is always good and service excellent!

IZI is one of our favorite restaurants. Haven't been there YET on this current trip, but we had our best meal on the island there last trip. Wonderful staff, excellent food. We will be hitting it again before we leave for home on the 10th.

Was a big fan of David @ La Gondola. Followed him to IZZI. Had 2 great meals there and suddenly, the last 2 years disappointed. Will not be back.
Tutta Pasta much better

In my opinion, Izi was never nearly as good as La Gondola. The prices are lower though..
