Entrance to Baie Rouge - 01/16/2015 12:45 PM

Anyone have good directions to the entrance to Baie Rouge? We had difficulty finding it during our trip last May. The area has changed much since our last visit 20 years ago. We thought we finally found it,but it was gated and locked.

You were at the wrong gate , when coming from sandyground when the road turns left a sharp 90 degree turn instead of turning just go straight ,but go slow very bumpy don't leave anything in the car

We were driving from the opposite direction both times, that is why we probably didn't set it. Is there any signs?

For the past few years their is a gate at the entrance to Baie Rouge that is open during the day but closes at around dark. If you get locked inside you have to wait until a car with the gate code comes along and that could be a long time. Don't park to close to any of the Villa's private driveways as the last time we were there a car was being towed away and ticketed for blocking it.

SKJay,
Sent you a PM. Coming from the Dutch side, follow out to you climb the hill saying Welcome to the French side just past Cupecoy. Continue to follow the twists and turns through the streets. You will pass by a gaurd gate, but keep going for about another mile or so. As you drive, you will come to a sharp right turn leading to the Sandy ground and into Marigot. Just before that sharp right, there will be an open area with large green waste-bins near the entrance. Follow in and that is the parking area for Baie Rouge.
If you are coming in from the French side, follow out of Marigot and into Sandy ground. Continue to follow the road as it rises up the hill and goes left. Follow the road to the opening directly in front of you just before you are forced left. Have fun when you get there and enjoy the food at Gus' and Chez Raymond. Don't worry about your car, the beach boys in the lot will keep an eye on it.
