Best Sunset and dinner afterwards

Best Sunset and dinner afterwards - 03/08/2015 02:44 AM

We are planning our first trip to St. Maarten at the end of April and are looking for a recommendation on where to watch the best sunset with some delicious drinks? We'd like to follow it with dinner at a fabulous restaurant with great atmosphere close by, so would love recommendations for that as well. We are option to food options, but love seafood, Italian and steak. Thanks!

It's dark at night so there is not much of a view. Any water front restaurant along Grand Case will have a nice view of the lights on Anguilla but you really can't see much. Much better views at lunch. Paradise View above Orient is one of the nicest. Just got back from dinner there and it was very good but we didn't go for the view.

Good point, thank you! I hadn't thought of that. Changed my post smile

Is Paradise View open every night for dinner? I was under the impression it was a breakfast/lunch spot. We usually have breakfast at our place and lunch on the beach...might be worth checking out for dinner. Can you post more info regarding their dinners? Would love to hear from other folks as well. <img src="http://www.traveltalkonline.com/forums/images/graemlins/thanks.gif" alt="" />

I like to watch the sunset from Kim Sha beach, then dinner at the Greenhouse (and the happy hour drinks for sunset watching from the Greenhouse too) but it's by no means a romantic dining experience...maybe the restuarant at Mary's Boone? think it's Satori?!

I am pretty sure they are only open on Friday and Saturday for dinner. The menu is pretty good and reasonable. Check their menu on line. We go often for the atmosphere and our friends that are there on Saturday nights. Lucy and Laurent are the owners and cousins of Marina and Coco from Palm Beach. It's not high brow but more down home.

I doubt many on here have been for dinner. For lunch, don't be turned off if you see a ton of busses parked . The bus people don't come into Paradise View except to sneak into the bathroom when they think Lucy is not watching but she sees them! LOL

The view during the day is awesome and there is always a delightful cool breeze.

Not sure if you are on the Dutch side but we like to see at least one sunset from SSBG and then dinner at Le C Lounge which is located in the parking lot behind SSBG. Nice atmosphere on the patio and varied menu including steaks, sushi and seafood.

Thanks...Cathy

Would agree with seeing the sun set from SSBG, however, I think the Le C Lounge is now closed. If you want to wander over to the Maho Village side, Le Moulin Fou is a nice restaurant, it's just behind Cheri's Cafe.

Sunset Cafe Grand Case Beach Club. The Beach Club has a special viewing area and happy hour. Dinner , a few steps down, is served in an open air covered restaurant overlooking the lights of Anguilla. And the food (gourmet) is great too!

Calmos Cafe is nice for a casual bite on the beach too.

Thanks, all! What is SSBG. We are staying on Dutch side at Divi Little Bay, which I understand has good sunsets too. Just looking for something other than where we are staying smile

Spend the evening in Grand Case. Good sunset bars are LOVE and Calamos. Wander down the street and pick a restaurant before the sunset, make a reservation and then go back. If the restaurant is on the water you might just stay there for the entire experience.

It depends on the time of year. By the time I arrive in June, the sun is setting "over the hill," and I can't see it hit the horizon.

My suggestion would be Calmos Cafe in Grand Case--great drinks, feet in the sand, watch the sunset with a view of Anguilla, and then your pick of some of the best restaurants in the Caribbean, just steps away..

For a special time, try the restaurant at La Samanna, Great sunsets all year but sunset is a little early for dinner on the French side in winter. Sun sets about 5- 5:15 in December.

When we're at Divi March/April we can't see it either; that's why we go to Grand Case at least once on the trip for sunset. When we stay at GCBC we watch it from our balcony---but still haven't seen the green flash.

I too stay at the Divi, in week 11, and I have seen excellent sunsets every year since the late 1980's, and at least one green flash a year.
On the two weeks in April with granddaughter during her spring break we also watched sunsets, though the sun was getting very close to "the hill."
Best part is I walk out of our unit with a homemade drink and don't have to drive.

There are many places to view amazing sunsets on the island. Some of our favorite are the Dream Pool Bar in Maho, the beach at Cupecoy, Kim Sha Beach in Simpson Bay,The Flamingo Resort,Any water location in Grand Case and the list goes on. You will see many beautiful sunsets on this island! Enjoy!
