Sol Hotel Problem...

Sol Hotel Problem... - 05/24/2016 02:05 PM

I am very excited about booking a week long stay at Sol Oyster Pond after reading so many great reviews.

Well I booked through booking.com, and sent an email to Collette to confirm the reservatio0n and ask a few questions. I never heard from her so I then inquired on the "Contact" form on the website... still no answer. I then tried calling the phone number and yet no reply. I am dialing from DC and not sure if I am doing something wrong.

HAs anyone stayed recently? If I show up with my room confirmation from booking.com should I be ok? I arrive Sunday and this is worrying!

I don't know anything about the situation, but what numbers are you dialing to dial the number and is there just no answer or the call doesn't go through or what?

Website shows: By mail : colette@solhotel.info | By phone/Fax : +33 (0) 590 29 38 00

At the advice of a friend, I have dialed "00 590 29 38 00".

I have also tried dialing the number exactly as it shows.

try 011 +33 (0) 590 29 38 00. I think you have to dial the + sign.

Try this - 011-590-590+29 38 00.

It's something funky but easy!!! We spent an hour trying to call from our Dutch phone while on island and gave up and my daughter did it with her phone which acted like it was still in the US and the call went straight through. But the plus sign was dialed

When I call my son (Frenchside) from the States, I dial 011-590-590 then the number...no plus sign. I am close to there right now....if you can't get through, let me know and I can stop by there later today.

Still can't get through. I believe the line may be out of business. I will give it a few days and then most likely have to book elsewhere. I am hoping my CC charges will be refunded!

Thanks Dawn for the offer! I would hate for you to have to go out of your way... but if you happen to be walking by-- would love to know if Sol is still open? Is Collette in town?

I don't think the title of this thread should be SOL Hotel Scam. There is no scam and SOL Hotel is a big chain.

Late in the game, but I would strongly recommend booking anything travel related directly through the provider (air fare, hotel, etc) rather than via a third party. Third party seems great...unless anything goes wrong.

Glad the situation has been resolved. I changed the title of the original post.

From a US landline, dial 011 for international (like dialing 1 for long distance) then 590 for country code, 590 again for city code, and 29 38 00. All together, that's 011 590 590 29 38 00.

From a mobile phone use the + in place of 011. Most mobile phones generate a + when you hold down the 0 key. So from a mobile phone, it would be +590 590 29 38 00.

33 is the country code for France. I've seen several French-side numbers that use 33 for the country code instead of 590, so that will likely work too.
