Thanks for posting. People often ask about things like gyms and beauty salons. Worth checking out the results for those, as well as restaurants, etc.

Thanks for posting. I didn't do very well with my votes. I guess I need to venture out more. It appears that the Dutch side dominated most of the top spots. When we're on the Island I don't even consider going to Domino's, McDonald's or Subway with so many other choices, so I was kind of surprised by them being ranked so high, I would assume the reason for this was because a lot of votes came from the local's.

Maybe they took out an ad and that helped the results. <img src="http://www.traveltalkonline.com/forums/images/graemlins/jester.gif" alt="" />

Yes, traditionally most of the top spots go to Dutch side places, although this year there were substantially more French side restaurants nominated. Fast food places always get a lot of votes, yes.

Very odd results in some categories. I would take this with a grain of salt. The results are certainly skewed towards the Dutch side.

The restaurants and hotel categories seem to be way off.
La Samanna did not even make the top three hotels/resorts.

It is, after all, a Dutch side newspaper.

Many of the winners to me are a joke. Burger King as the Best on the Island. Dominos as the Best Pizza.

Like with most any survey anywhere, especially a "best of", it is pretty easy to get skewed results. Depends on how hard a place pushes to get votes, how much promotion they do, how much they push their employees to push for votes, etc. Like with reviews, take it with a grain of salt. Use it as a tool when making a decision but I also know many reviews I would not agree with.

What I consider the "best of" anything may be way different than you or anyone else.

Hey, the last several years, the best pizza has been Pizza Galley, which I find their pizza absolutely inedible!! <img src="http://www.traveltalkonline.com/forums/images/graemlins/Sick.gif" alt="" /> So, there you go!! Opinions are like a$$es--everyone has one!!! <img src="http://www.traveltalkonline.com/forums/images/graemlins/Grin.gif" alt="" />

I did not see a category for best car rental. ( a subject that a lot of people seem to be interested in). Looking at the results, it would not have been much help either
