Electrical Adapters?

Electrical Adapters? - 02/02/2017 02:03 PM

We are looking forward to our first trip to St Martin - we leave this weekend! Woo hoo!!
Just asking some advise - do we require electrical adapters in order to use our standard North American 110V chargers, curling iron, etc?
We are staying in Grand Case and Orient Village.
Your assistance is greatly appreciated.

Most places on the French side, you will need an adapter, yes. You should check with your particular lodging to confirm. Some places, like Club O, have both. Most places on the French side do not.

Most phone and computer chargers will accept both 120 and 240, and convert it automatically (acceptable voltages are printed in very small script on each box), so all you need is a cheap adapter that adapts the prongs so they fit French outlets. Things like curling iron, hair dryer, etc cannot convert 240 to 120, and for those you need to have a converter box. Carol's advice is good, to inquire to see if they already have a converter box available.

Thank you fellow travelers. Our small appliances are dual voltage - learned that lesson while traveling in Europe years ago, we will bring our converter kit just in case.

Thanks again and have a wonderful day!

Might not need a converter in all cases but you certainly will need an adapter....any Apple product can use both currents but again you will need an adapter...if you do need one simply go into Petit Casino on the main street in Orient Village...they sell them.

The small electronics handle it with no problem with prong adapters. A lot of the accommodations have hair dryers for you to use. We have found the converters burn up the hair dryers when converting them to 220V.

An adapter is fine for phones and what not. Curling irons require a converter, trust me, I have fried a few!
