Regatta Winds & Waves - H.R. 2017

Regatta Winds & Waves - H.R. 2017 - 02/27/2017 02:18 AM

So according to the forecasts I'm looking at, it is not going to be a boring Regatta due to the weather.

For Friday, Saturday, and Sunday, somewhere around 20 knot winds with 4 to 5 foot waves depending on where one is on the island (with a little less on Sunday).

And for the Commodore's Cup on Thursday, 18 to 24 knot winds with 4 to 5 foot waves, which can be a bit of a challenge for some of the smaller sailboats.

If you are on a Spectator Boat, and are prone to sea sickness, use your patch or medication. <img src="http://www.traveltalkonline.com/forums/images/graemlins/Grin.gif" alt="" />

Serious Fun. <img src="http://www.traveltalkonline.com/forums/images/graemlins/Groovin.gif" alt="" />

Based on the higher wind forecast we'll up our large person request for Thursday to be above 200lb. Race on a J88 and get fed PB and J sandwiches.
I'll only have access to this site until Monday night.

Sounds like fun!! Being on a spectator boat with no wind is not much fun! Wish I was going to be there!

Well white caps on the water have started today, and things pick up from there. Some boats will really be bouncing.

Hope the people on the Spectator Boats know not to puke into the wind! <img src="http://www.traveltalkonline.com/forums/images/graemlins/duh.gif" alt="" /> <img src="http://www.traveltalkonline.com/forums/images/graemlins/jester.gif" alt="" />

Fortunately I've never been one to be seasick, but your advice for the bonine, etc., should be taken to heart. Maybe those here going should pick up some and take some medicine along, just in case!

This just might be a Regatta for the record books. Four to five foot waves could be a challenge, but, should make for an interesting weekend! Better than no wind at all!

Thanks Rasputin for the weather broadcast. You just might have a future carrer there, if you ever decide to give up your disguise!!!

So is there any wind where you are today? <img src="http://www.traveltalkonline.com/forums/images/graemlins/Grin.gif" alt="" />

A little bit of wind, but we live up on a hill and it's always windy! <img src="http://www.traveltalkonline.com/forums/images/graemlins/Grin.gif" alt="" />
More concerned about Wednesday night into Thursday morning for flying! Here, SYR and JFK are expecting severe thunderstorms and gusty winds. Just what we need!!!

I think the winds blew Rasputin off the island. No sighting yet and I know what he looks like!

Windy today but Mullet was great and had a huge crowd. 2nd row at 10:00 but nice beach and calm.

JD, I met Rasputin at Dreams a few years ago, at a TTOL party. He was using his alias at the time, but I could see right through his disguise! Check out the local news . . he might be doing the weather reports!
