Maybe not rent a luxury car? Don't rent from Hertz? Or a large van? Plenty of smaller cars available in the $300 neighborhood. What are you looking for?

Don't see how it would cost that much. Here is the Hertz SXM site that you use to book online. And those prices include the free liability insurance. Your CC should cover the Collision.

can we call hertz in sxm or do we have to book online?

Re: car rental? - 03/11/2019 11:37 PM

Why call and have to pay for an international call? I've always booked online and get a confirmation via email the next day. Easy to do and after using them for 20 years never a glitch. Also they give a 10% discount for booking online. No deposit or payment required. Just present your card at pick up.

We booked with Hertz in November and paid less than $400. Asked for a quote for 3 weeks in March and were quoted 1,018.00 I wrote and asked if the quote was wrong and they replied it’s high season......😱

Did that include Liability insurance because most credit cards don't cover that?

Michael Ramessar,

Dbest Rent A Car
Be specific as to what you want and how long you need the car and insurance requirements (usually your credit card will cover collision but liability is $5/day with this company).
Ask for a complete quote, all fees, all taxes, COMPLETE. $600 for 8 days is unacceptable.

How come people don't post what their Hotel and Villas fees are ?

Re: car rental? - 03/12/2019 01:32 PM

Good point.
Some post figure and others expect same price from that vendor. All factors (car size, length of time for rental, insurance, # of drivers, High/Low season, discount for long time loyal returning customers) should be considered.
