Can someone tell me whether there is anything in the place where Cheries (sp) was? If not, do you know whether anything is planned. TIA

We were there three weeks ago and the only thing in that spot beyond a lot of kitties was a big for sale sign. Everyone we asked said there were no plans at the present time but that was here-say and that can mean anything. Or nothing?

Thanks Pat. I do hope that something open air replaces it.

Given the condition of the property and the open air nature of the original setup, I don't think it would have taken a great deal of money to have the place back open for business. I think it's obvious that Cheri has no interest in continuing so until the property is sold (or she decides to rent/lease instead), I don't expect anything to open up there.

Honestly....i hope NOTHING ever goes into Cheri's spot...unless they build walls, and make it an indoor venue. It is so pleasant now, going to the back restaurants....and not hearing that NOISE that Cheri's had for years. The food there was mediocre at best....the entertainment didn't change for over thirty years.....and the so called ''decor'' was way more than tired. I know a lot of people liked going there...but personally, after a few times there early on....and seeing that it was the same old shtick nite after night....month after month....and year after year...it was time for something else. So many new and better places to enjoy in Maho.....and the food will be so much better. (it couldn't be much worse) OK...i am sure many will disagree with me...but.....my two cents anyways.
t
Agree totally. The last several times we ate there the food was disappointing.
Also, the one year we stayed at Maho the music was annoying and disruptive.
We had to change our room to the other side of the hotel.

Come on guys it was a fun place for new visitors with families also it has to remain an open air spot . If and I must say if I was having not such a good night at the Casino it was a great place for a drink and a laugh ,and you are correct the food was not what I would enjoy but it was a must for many people to have some fun .

Had many great memories there, but it eventually got old and tired.....sort of like me
.
She retired. She's in her 70's now and had enough.

Spot on with me Dick. I always took new visitors there on their first night on the island. I have not had one that has not enjoyed it the first time around. True, the food was not great, but I am not looking for fancy on the first night as I am mostly too tired to enjoy it. It is very convenient for me to get to from Terres Basse. Ditto regarding using it as a few minutes escape from Casino Royale.
I do hope that a new open air venue goes up there and not necessarily high-end as it has an excellent high end right behind it. I guess we all have our own mileage.

Was really hoping Lees was going to move in there. But was told he had to be on the water. Guess that theory was wrong!!

Not on water and pretty downsized.

They never had a bathroom either. You had to go across to underneath the casino. Yuck!
Speaking of LOUD things in the Maho area....OMG....where Fig used to be is a "club" called We (at least I believe that's the sign...it's rather obscure and poorly designed).
Pi**ed me off to no end to have that thing attached to La Terrasse. Music boomed into the hallways and rooms. Very angry about that.

Beachkitten--did you stay at La Terrasse this time? Any chance we could see some pictures of your trip??? Please?
We liked Cheri’s for what it was. We never ate there, ever. We went there the first night after dinner for a drink and people watching. We always had fun understanding why we actually went there. Sometimes we went again later in the trip.
Now let me tell you one thing, actually one person that always impressed me. As you may or may not remember Grace and I had a Timeshare at Pelican. We would go every year. As I said, on the first night we always stopped by.
There was one spot at the bar that was tended by Cordal. He had a great personality and obviously a great memory. Every year when we stopped in, without us even asking, he put a Carib in front of me and a Guavaberry Collada in front of Grace and said “Welcome back mon, has a year gone by already?” He remembered what we both liked to drink there.
We found that pretty impressive!

Cheri had special a night atmosphere for first timers . Lots of Folks had a great time there . We went in the beginning but after that left it for the Tourist. Selling price will be difficult to achieve . Good luck to her.
