No government - 09/24/2019 12:32 PM

Just finished reading the Daily newspaper looks like our lovely SXM is taking a step back in time maybe twenty years , there doesn’t seem to be any agreement as to the direction of the government . There are so many projects ready to move forward let’s hope that doesn’t stop . I think for the island health financially the airport must not be stoped its hard to believe that this has taken so long to get off the ground if it ever does . They be came independent , the question is were they ready , doesn’t look that way .

When we were there in 2018 we were eating at Isola and one of the servers said that same thing about jumping to independence. She was young but had a good head on her shoulders. She seemed to think that the government was more concerned with their 10-10-10 (October 10, 2010 independence motto) than actually being prepared. Maybe it's time for a full overhaul or going back to Dutch control??

The way it is now , it will be good if the Dutch just moved in, but it will not happen.

Not really 20 years, but nine. We have had, so far, nine governments (sort of ) in 9 year!!!

Mind that when Sxm became independent, it became independent from Curacao, where politics are not exactly an easy piece of cake

There are many good people that can form a new Government for the people of St. Maarten. Irma was a tough time but it is now the past. St. Maarten is a one of a kind destination and a special place for those who live there.
