Restaurant update - 11/30/2019 06:18 PM

Has anyone been to the Hideaway at LaVista lately or to Roxy Beach? How was the food? Heading to SXM tomorrow and I'm working on my restaurant list. Thank you.Happy Thanksgiving

The Hideaway has always been a favorite of ours. Be advised it's not high end cuisine, but normally provides a good meal. According to Andrea, their business has been severely damaged by Flamingo being out of commission for over two years. Thus, they are not open every evening. Please confirm their hours before you make a definite plan for a particular evening. Or, go for breakfast, which has always been a favorite of ours, especially on a day when cruise ships might be coming in while you eat. Regardless, there is a lovely view.

Roxxy, we have not been to, just because we didn't make the time to go. Apparently the cost is pretty high and I hear that possibly the music (techno crap) is fairly loud.

We stopped in The Hideaway three times on a recent visit. One Thursday night for drinks and we were the only people there but supposedly they had some reservations. Another time on a Friday night and there were two tables occupied. We just had a drink and my wife a caprese salad that she said left a lot to be desired. On a Saturday night stop (just to see our bartender friend) the restaurant was very busy, much to my surprise. The menu is very similar to before but there is a new chef. They are only open on Thursday, Friday and Saturday for dinner at this time. Flamingo being closed has really hurt their business.

We did not go to Roxxy Beach but they did have a fixed price ($29pp) menu that looked decent. I think their initial "high end pricing" did not work out too well. Not sure how long the special menu will last. Hopefully it is attached.

The cost of two cocktails at Roxy equal that fixed price menu! yikes

Not a wine list but below is a cocktail list that may or may not be current.

Cocktail Menu

I did notice the following on their regular menu: A 5% house charge will be charged to all checks.
Perhaps adding the turnover tax? Not sure if they add 15% service charge or not.

Showing an added tot is not legal in St Maarten.

I am aware of that and it did not state TOT, but since it is 5% it would make one wonder. IF they are adding 15% service charge plus this 5%, it would make me think twice about going there.

I believe Lesley is referring to the fixed price menu staying.
