Are supplies at food stores running low - 03/12/2020 05:58 PM

This question is for those who live on SXM or tourists shopping. Have you seen any empty shelves?
How is the stock on items that in the states are being hoarded?

We went to Prime yesterday and there did not appear to be any shortages. People are hoarding in the US from, what I am being told.

No scare as yet and we never had that problem even with major hurricances in the past.
Hoping for the best .

Super U shelves are well-stocked today. Buy all the toilet paper you want.

We are definetly buying a few pallets of toilet paper and taking with us back home! Will be setting up a kiosk at the local Costco parking lot and taking trades....

There will be a run on laxatives in 60 days so they can use it all up.

Run on laxatives? Interesting choice of words, and not a pretty picture. Almost choked on sandwich when I read that.

I think that our warm weather will help us. Ebola was from Africa and didn't bother us nor you folks and Europe.

There is a belief that warmer weather will stop this virus. In the name of Jesus I hope that is true.

sorry but couldn't resist, need some lighthearted relief these days...............

in days of old
When Knights were bold
And paper wasn'ae invented
You wiped your a'r'se
On a lump of grass
And walked away
CONTENTED......

I will now get my coat

The toilet paper hoarding is really strange. The people of SXM went without toilet paper, electric, roofs, water, food and tourism when Hurricane Irma hit yet survived. No flights came in and no cruise ships docked. This is nothing compared to that.

I wonder how many of the jokers are actually travelling to Sxm ... Perhaps none .

Re: Are supplies at food stores running low - 03/13/2020 12:04 PM

I agree, not a laughing matter, especially for those here coming soon or returning soon but I personally think the toilet paper (etc.) panic is way overblown as are other aspects of this.

Absolutely agree! Who need TP if you have guns! Lol!

Come on guys. A little levity sometimes is needed in this situation, but not this.

Re: Are supplies at food stores running low - 03/13/2020 02:16 PM

In prepping for a possible shelter in place situation the question non-preppers should ask themselves is "What do I hate running out of?

"What do I hate running out of?"
Wine and scotch.

There's plenty of wine and scotch on the shelves of St. Martin stores.

Arrived today, had no problem spending $300 at Carrefour on supplies. Certainly no shortages.

Re: Are supplies at food stores running low - 03/14/2020 12:46 PM

Haven't heard of any screening at the airport or any quarantine facilities being established for travelers who may pose a risk so I expect the alarm level on the island isn't as great as
it is elsewhere hence the run on supplies one needs to be in quarantine. This is not overblown at all rather people acting to protect themselves from a very real danger.
