Folks stop saying this is a hoax! Traveling right now is just spreading this virus. Get home and wait till this blows over.
Wash your hands and don't touch your face. If you are over 60 stay home!

From SXM Headline News
"No more passenger flights from Europe with St. Maarten and BES Islands as final destination
The central government in The Hague has decided that all passenger flights from Europe to the BES Islands will be stopped as of Saturday, Mach 14, 8 pm (Dutch time). There will also be no more flights from Europe to St. Maarten, Curacao and Aruba. This restriction will be valid until March 27, 6 pm (Dutch time).

Todays letter from Min. Bruins to the Second Chamber only applies to the travel from The Netherlands. The travel between the islands is not restricted by this letter, but St. Maarten and the BES Islands may be applying additional restrictions. At this time it is not known if Winair flights between the islands will be affected.

The restriction only applies to passenger flights towards the islands. Freight is exempted.

The exemption also applies for essential medical referrals.

The letter of Min. Bruins to the Second Chamber is HERE (in Dutch).

I don’t get it either! How do they know that 5 people are sick? Did the flight crew informed the ground? Did these 5 people boarded the plane been sick already?

The plane took off. Can't say who was on it, but assume they did not let them disembark.

Heard or read no mention of Canada in the latest directives. Have you been able to get on your carrier’s website yet? That’s probably the best place you can get get any info for a while and it will be straight from the horses mouth, so to speak.

The Canadian government is warning us against any unnecessary travel at this time. Not sure why you are going to SXM or for how long but I would be inclined to stay home. Even if you are only going for a week, a lot can happen in that time. Also, there may be a requirement that you self-isolate for 14 days when you get back. Would you be prepared to do that?

Covid-19 - Air France / Airport Issue

The travel history of six passengers on Saturday's Air France flight to St. Maarten from France was questioned due to some German nationals on board. Germany is one of the countries on St. Maarten's travel restriction list.

Two of the passengers are residents of Switzerland and originated from there. They were allowed to travel to St. Maarten as per the current travel restrictions.

The other four passengers with German nationality whose trip originated in Germany were return on the same flight back to France.

Passengers were kept on board until their information was confirmed. None had symptoms related to Covid-19.
