Advice Please,
I'm flying into Washington Reagan from Miami on April 18, 2021. My layover time is 45 mins. Never changed planes
there before and looking for advice if this is possible to acheive. will be flying AA. Thank yoy.
Bob
You will likely have a couple of flight changes between now and then. Less than an hour is not leaving any wiggle room, and you don't know if your gate will be close for the flight to SXM. I tend to book early and always expect lots of changes.
I believe OP is returning from SXM and going through MIA. 45min is not enough time in MIA to go through customs and connect on next flight.
Scubaman--the 45 minutes connection time the OP is talking about is in DCA, not Miami.
Are you changing planes in MIA or DCA? Because if it's MIA, Scubaman is right. 45 minutes isn't enough time. If it's DCA, it will still be tight, but that's a small airport and I'd feel better chancing it there.
I don't read it that way, He's talking about MIA to DCA.
Well, we need the OP to clarify I guess, but the title of the post is DCA Airport. Just sayin'...........
Sorry for the confusion. I am arrivng in DCA from Miami. My connection is from DCA to Hartford with only 45 mins. to change flights.
OK, thanks. DCA used to be our home airport, so never really connected through there much. Going to Hartford might be a puddle jumper, so possibly a different concourse? As BeachKitten said, it's not a huge airport, like Atlanta or Charlotte, so hopefully you should be OK.
Assuming - and you know how much trouble that can get you into - you’re booked from SXM all the way to BDL on AA you should be okay. It could be tight if there are timing issues but your bags should be shipped all the way through once you’ve cleared C & I in Miami. Good luck.......
Thank you Carol, I feel a little better now. The next choice would be a 6 hr. layover.
Happy New Year to everyone.
I don't blame you for not wanting to do a 6 hour layover. If you're not flying for a while, things could change also...
I will be watching for changes, esp. with AA. Thank you
The OP says the flight is in April, a lot could change between now and then. Although, my outbound AA flight for March 2021 has not changed at all since booking back in April.
My experience with AA is that the major flight changes seem to happen 60 days out. My connecting flight on 2/18 was drastically changed on 12/20.
I am just trying to get a general opinion about DCA. I will be in Miami for a week so, my trip home is originating in
Miami, NOT SXM.
DCA is a small airport - that's in your favor. American uses gates B and C. What airline to you have to connect to?
Re-reading - is your flight to Bradley on American too? If so, I would think no problem. The two concourses, B and C, are not far apart - easy walking distances. Only problem would be if your bags are not checked all the way through to Bradley.
If it's a real small jet, they might fly out of gate 35X (I think that's the number). That's actually a bus that takes you out on the tarmac. This will be replaced sometime in 2021 with a new terminal beyond the existing terminal C - the new terminal is not open yet (but appears to be substantially complete).
I'm on AA all the way thru to Hartford and bags are checked all the way also.
I'm on AA all the way thru to Hartford and bags are checked all the way also.
Then baring delays, you should be fine at DCA.
