New CDC Quarantine guidelines

Looks like no quarantine is needed after 2 weeks of second 2 dose shot or 1 dose shot. Wonder how getting vaccine will affect the need to have antigen test before returning to US.

I actually doubt that will change, at least for a while, as even if you have had the shots, they say you can still transmit the disease.

It's been reported recently that the Pfizer vaccine is actually effective at reducing "shedding" of the virus. Apparently this is because those who are vaccinated have such a small amount of the virus in their body, there is much less risk of transmission.

We're getting Moderna, but that is some positive news.

Only Pfizer was involved in this particular study, but I would think that the results would be similar, since any vaccine reduces the amount of virus in your body.

If true that could be good news for future travels to SXM not needing tests by showing your proof of vaccine card and type you got.

I am hoping a vaccine passport (app) will allow you to show proof of vaccination through your state DOH. I feel like the vaccination cards could be counterfeited.

Anything can be counterfeited or hacked. Apps are no exception.

Yep. It’s even possible to get on and off the island without being tested in the required time frame ...

True, but you can make it difficult for the hackers. Paper documents can have a watermark or be embossed with a raised seal. Electronic documents can use digital signatures and related technologies.

Passports and drivers licenses work. Credit cards have the tap-to-pay feature. Airlines have electronic boarding passes. Security is hard, but not necessarily impossible.

Dan cheers
