Sunday morning, I think........

Sunday morning, I think........ - 04/18/2021 01:33 PM

Awoke very early and asked myself, “Why?” So I rolled over and went back to sleep, very unlike my normal routine. Finally got up around 7:30 and fixed the coffee.

I tried to shake off this serious state of lethargy that’s taken control of both of us. So far it isn’t working and I’m going to blame it all on Beachside Villas. This property really is so complete there’s no strong desire to go anywhere else, at least not so far this trip.

We spent most of yesterday bouncing between our porch (deck, balcony or whatever else you might want to call it....) and the pool and pool deck. Most of the time it’s deserted and almost as if you have your own pool all to yourself.

We did venture out to Maho last night for dinner at Sublime. It was good but not as good as I recalled it last time we were there in December, but J was able to have his rack of lamb and his creme brûlée. We chose to sit outside and with the exception of the young boys (men?) on their bicycles in the street below us, it was a very pleasant place to be and the kids did add to our entertainment experience but we weren’t trying to drive through there at that point.

Our waiter was excellent - Vemall - but not sure of the actual spelling. He even remembered us from our last trip but I’m sure it helped that we had mutual friends here on the island. Re those bicycle boys, they are literally an accident waiting to happen, congregating at the three way intersection by the carpark and pharmacy at the intersection of the main road through Mullet and Maho, and being a general PITA. But the good news is they all disappeared as it got dark so perhaps that was their curfew? Between popping wheelies and generally interfering with and blocking the traffic at a busy time of the evening, their behavior really needs to be addressed by someone with authority. If they act like this on their bikes, heaven help everyone when they’re able to drive cars or suicycles.

Back to our anything but humble abode and eventually a quiet end to our evening.

I think we all can use a little of that Beachside magic these days, to just slow down and do NOTHING. Looking forward to that myself...

Too bad about the 'bicycle boys'. Someone reported here just the other day that their older counterparts on scooters were engaged in similar and even more dangerous foolishness at Maho. Hopefully they will get under control.

I’m pretty sure we’re talking different peeps since all 5 or 6 were on bicycles and they kept it up for a while. Kids will be kids and I get it but Lord, don’t let us be responsible for hurting one of them even if it’s their fault.

Ok yes Pat the guys were on motorcycles and came through popping wheelies. I thought you meant “bikes” as motorcycles. Ignore my comment.

I would NEVER ignore you, Louise. And re my reference to ‘kids’ today that pertains to almost anyone under the age of fifty! But I’m pretty sure the kids we saw were all teenagers. 😊😊

Lol I agree. So happy you and John are enjoying yourselves and seems you’ve made a convert of David trying the Spaghetti house on our next trip, Terry’s endorsement also is a thumbs up for him.

And she knows her Italian food, for sure! You tell David the food is yummy, the portions are reasonably sized and reasonably priced. The setting is casual - very casual, and I think they are closed on Sundays.
